I had the same experience at Fiumicino Airport, despite carrying a UNLP that allows entry into Europe without a visa. Meanwhile, other officials and diplomats with similar passports walked right in. This behaviour has been tolerated for far too long. Glad to see Kumar speak up. :)

When told people like you with your kind of passports should expect this treatment and that if we argued against that obviously disgusting comment we would be considered a threat to other passengers and not boarded is not treating everyone exactly the same but it is racist

I'm sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had a an impact on me. She definitely didn't have to take the time to do it. Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.
I have spent much of the year traveling across Sri Lanka, visiting government and CSO-run aged care facilities and speaking with beneficiaries and caregivers as preparatory work to inform future investment in this sector. It is a severely underfunded area. Miles to go before we sleep.
The IMF just approved the combined fifth and sixth reviews of SL EFF which would result in tranches amounting to approximately $695 million being disbursed to Sri Lanka. A much needed injection to our economy. A very good day.

Today marks seven years since the #EasterAttacks. Remembering all we lost that day, and never forgetting the architecture of neglect that allowed it to happen.
Chapter 11 of The Department of Chosen Ones reflects on the immediate aftermath of the attacks and the government’s response.
