如果你去造船厂的干船坞底下看一艘十几万吨的远洋货轮或航空母舰，会发现船体水线以下的钢板外壳和螺旋桨旁边，每隔几米就整整齐齐焊着一排像板砖一样的银白色金属块。
外行看过去还以为是船体打的补丁，其实这是人类海洋工程里最省钱的防锈巧思：“牺牲阳极保护法（Sacrificial Anodes）”！
因为富含盐分的大海本身就是一个巨大的电解质电池池子，十几万吨钢铁船壳泡在海里，随时都在发生电化学腐蚀生锈，刷再厚的防锈漆只要被暗礁或冰块刮破一道口子就会迅速烂穿。
于是工程师利用不同金属的活泼程度差异，在钢铁船壳上焊满了几百上千块比铁更活泼的高纯度锌块或铝合金块。
当巨轮泡进海里时，海水电流会优先集中火力去腐蚀吃掉这些锌块，从而保住旁边的钢铁船体毫发无损；每隔两三年船进船坞保养时，工人只要把被海水啃得千疮百孔的旧锌块敲掉、换上新锌块就完事了。

Human rights experts have long warned that the repression of anti-apartheid/anti-genocide protests REVEALED a system in which Israel's apartheid inspires western democracy: rights for some; punishing criticism\dissent; securitizing/militarizing life; tolerance of racist ideology.
My country, France, is sinking further each day into a system of governance that is authoritarian and destructive to liberty.
Placing activists who oppose their government’s policies under house arrest is an attempt to intimidate and frighten any form of dissent.
Equating their activism with terrorism is revolting, scandalous, and reminiscent of the worst authoritarian regimes around the world.
Resistance is more necessary than ever to defend the values of liberty and solidarity in our country.

UN Commissioner Chris Sidoti explained why so many children have been killed and injured in Gaza, pointing to two factors. The first is Israel’s military strategy of total destruction since October 7, 2023.
The second, he said, is that Israeli forces deliberately targeted children, citing two brothers aged 9 and 10 killed by an Israeli drone while gathering firewood for their family, about 100 meters from the yellow line.
The commission concluded that the killing of children was deliberate, not accidental, a conclusion that rests on eyewitness testimony, video, satellite images, medical reports, and the posts of Israeli soldiers themselves.

🇮🇹 Tens of thousands of workers, students, truckers and farmers marched in more than 40 Italian cities on Friday in a general strike against soaring living costs, rearmament and European support for wars in the Middle East, including the genocide in Gaza, according to Italian news agency Adnkronos.
Police counted 30,000 in Milan, where marchers shut down the eastern ring road for three hours, while organizers claimed over 100,000, according to Italian broadcaster TGCom24. A speaker in Turin put the crowd there at more than 50,000. The grassroots union USB, which called the strike, claimed 2 million nationwide showed up to challenge Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's "war economy."
Protesters blocked the port in Genoa with burning tires, TGCom24 reported, and marched into Naples port, demanding that ports not be used to move "weapons, ammunition, military equipment and troops." In Rome, police charged about 300 students who threw stones and Molotov cocktails. At least 10 officers were injured in Mestre and Vicenza, according to Adnkronos.
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini had ordered rail, air, sea and transit workers to stay on the job, but the order was dismissed by USB as "illegitimate."
