Same story here. Radiotherapy and chemo, and sadly I did have the surgery and stoma. I often wonder if I had access to screening if I could have avoided a lot of trauma.

An overwhelming response to this. If any good that can come from what I went through, I will always speak out where I can to ensure others can avoid it. If screening is available, get screened. If you have symptoms, get checked. Take care of yourselves. Thank you NHS.

Hubs just got an NHS bowel cancer screening kit unasked for. They waste about £15m a year on unreturned kits. 35% approx I phoned up at his request to opt out. They now have to send a letter for him to sign. Why are people not asked to opt in to this if they want it?
