a real question from a child to their parent:
“When David killed Goliath, God was sad, right?”
It’s wisdom I continue to chew over years later.
Our actions tell the truth about what we believe.
The followers of Jesus will embody the Christlike characteristics of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control.

I have come to this conclusion again and again: it's always been this way. There's Empire Christianity and there's Christianity that tries to follow the Gospels.
I have met many amazing saints from a wide variety of backgrounds, denominations, and experiences.
Their faith in Jesus shines out of them, with the evidence of the Holy Spirit in the fruit of their lives.
They embody the empathy of Jesus that would-be-pastors call “sin.”
When it looks, walks, and talks like Caesar ...
it is antiChrist.
“Jesus suffering injustice with humanity in order to deliver humanity from the injustice we author is the foundation of the gospel.”

Insofar as death in general is the result of sin, Christ suffered a consequence he did not merit. But the crucifixion was an *INjustice*
Bad explanations of the atonement lead to distortions of God's character, which leads to Christians holding a warped definition of "justice."
Our character—our actions—show the truth about what we actually believe.
It doesn’t matter what we say we believe when our actions tell another story.
Following Jesus produces lives of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control.
Happy Sunday, friends!

Here’s what I shared last week:
• What is “church?”
• What was the first church like?
• What can we learn from them?

It is through Jesus that we understand the Scriptures more fully.
Jesus is the fullest revelation of God. No-one has ever seen God, but Christ who is himself God has made him known. It is through Christ that we most fully discover what God is like.

There’s no world in which the adjective “Christian” can effectively modify a noun like “nationalist” while also referring to following Jesus of Nazareth.
It’s sorta like how awesome/awful & terrific/terrifying used to be synonyms til they grew to mean somethin totally different.
