Remedial Econ:
30 million new automobiles never sold is the reason why used car prices went up.
And, it wasn’t until the US govt increased the money supply by 40% starting in 2020 that used car prices skyrocketed.
Replying to @seanmdav
Everyone who blames cash for clunkers for today’s high used car prices either has 1) never looked at the data or 2) doesn’t understand economics.

I’m sure the sexual revolution had an impact on sewing, but the biggest impact happened when apparel manufacturers modernized and offshored in the late 1970s.
As a kid from a poor family a significant portion of my clothes were homemade.
But then it suddenly became far cheaper to buy than make.
Even being poor, mending became unnecessary. Don’t need to sew socks when a 10 pack of tube socks could be bought for a few dollars.
Sewing stopped being a necessity for 10s of millions of families.

Beginning of the year at Edit Guys we started upskilling our editors in AI editing.
Now we won’t hire anyone who isn’t actively using AI video editing.
Under a year AI went from a nice-to-have to a mandatory skill.
Want to set up an income stream while employed?

@BowTiedBull's jungle is the best example of guys building businesses while still employed.
Friends of mine built businesses with using their real first name and variation of middle name. Kept personal life separate.
56% of men in their 50s get pushed out of employment.
But that doesn't mean their expertise isn't valuable anymore. The best thing men can do is start selling their knowledge while still employed.
Part time consulting can bring in your annual salary.
My 83 yr old dad had triple bypass open heart surgery.
First thing I did after getting home from visiting was schedule a complete health check.
If you’re over 40, healthy and physically fit you still need to get a calcium score.
Half of heart attacks come from the LAD artery, nicknamed the widow maker.
You need to take steps to prevent a blockage from occurring long before you become a statistic.
Got my Calcium CT Score:
Left Main: 0
Left Circumflex: 0
Right Coronary Artery & Posterior Descending Artery: 0
Left Anterior Descending: 116
Grok, which artery do heart surgeons call the Widowmaker?

Then be the Elon of clean rivers, oceans and soil. Make it happen.
Hating on amazing things doesn't improve the planet.
I don't want flying cars.
I want rivers and ocean I can swim in with friends.
I want food that isn't full of toxic chemicals and clean soil to grow it in.
I want raw nature and wilderness and places on the earth I can get lost without seeing another human.
I want air that isn't "geoengineered" and polluted.
Science is cool. Technological advancement is cool, but I don't think this makes us happier as humans.
Real human connection and clean, natural food lead to happiness. This I know. Flying cars? I'm not sure.
Maybe I am a troglodyte...
It never ceases to surprise me how many people get salty when they see something amazing.
It’s a frickin flying car!
Claiming thrusters on cars are pointless only says Lina hasn’t paid any attention to what Elon has said about the future.
Thrusters provide stability and control at high speeds. Elon is targeting 383 mph. What purpose would an autonomous car serve at those speeds?
It would eliminate the utility of high speed rail.
LA to SF in one hour instead of 2 hours and 40 minutes by HSR.
Roads are cheaper to build than rail and they can connect to existing roads to give door to door delivery.
I'm not an Elon hater.
I'm just telling you the Honest Truth:
This is a marketing stunt.
The technology is quite old.
Just nobody ever thought of bolting it on a car.
Because it's pointless.
Porsche or Ferrari could also build something like this if they wanted, but they don't, because it's not worth it for them.
It's worth it for Elon though, because his entire brand is all about having the halo of futurism.
His marketing scales especially well with tech gimmicks like this, which is why he is financially incentivised to do them, while others aren't.
Again, I'm not hating, but actually educating yall.
This is not engineering genius.
It's marketing genius.
Just installed the worst @Tesla update. In a matter of a couple of minutes it kept giving me warnings to hold the steering wheel.
While sitting at a stop sign it disengaged FSD for failing to pay attention to driving.
Population collapse isn't dangerous because of what it'll do to our current economy. Widespread robotics will occur before the collapse.
The danger is in what a declining population does to the psyche.
People hoping for a better future and then just give up.
There are 3 types of AI doomer:
1. Doing it for money and power
2. Ignorant about AI and their ignorance scares them
3. Useless rent seekers who want to be anointed to the AI priesthood over everyone

When I started my entrepreneurial knowledge consisted of "hustle, get clients, pay myself."
Then I built a business using the same formula. At the end of the 1st year I hustled harder, get lots of clients and... paid myself the same as when I was solo.
I was too tired to keep doing it my way and learned how businesses function.
A properly run business grows and so does your wealth. Your hours won't grow unless you want them to, not because you have to.
Running the business doesn't really get easier, not for a long time, because you are learning foreign skills to the ones that got you started.
But the rewards are so worth the learning curve.
I had a call with a studio founder who made $270k in his second year working solo.
Then he started a studio with a couple of friends.
This year he's on track for only around $60k profit. While working harder than ever.
He's doing all the sales, running the business, managing the clients and still doing project work himself.
But when a deal comes in, the money gets split evenly.
"They're my friends... so I've tried to keep it all equal."
I get it... and I'm sure they're good guys.
But right now he's carrying most of the downside, and all the upside gets split evenly.
And this isn't about anyone being lazy. But a bad setup can make good people act the wrong way.
Winning the work is work too. Running the business and the sales is just as valuable as doing the project.
So if a $30k project comes in, it shouldn't be an even split of the whole $30k:
-> Around $10k goes to whoever brought the deal in
-> Some goes to the business for tax and reinvestment
-> The rest gets split for the delivery
If you're the one bringing in the work, build that into how you price every deal.
Otherwise you keep the business alive and still get paid last.
