I spoke in the debate on World Diabetes Day, and I used some of my time to talk about the meeting I held with @RHANews and the discussion with @diabetessafety about how diabetes disproportionately affects our freight drivers.

I’m receiving increasing questions about fixed links for our island communities. This should be for individual islands to decide, but the Scottish Government should always be prepared to work with communities.

The Rest and Be Thankful is the gateway to Argyll and Bute. Yet proposed arrangements could see years of one-way traffic. Communities must be listened to and Transport Scotland need to look again at how this can be delivered.

So many roads across Scotland are in serious need of upgrades. Poor infrastructure impacts communities, local economies and people’s safety. 👇 Some of my contributions at the recent Transport Committee.

Ferries are a lifeline to our island communities and the Scottish Government has let them down. I doubt uncertainty like this would be accepted in transport links serving our major cities.

Bridges like the Spey Viaduct and Cloddach Bridge connect rural communities. Councils cannot maintain an aging network of roads and bridges without giving them the resources to do so. That is why I have called for a dedicated rural bridges fund in the budget.

A woman gave birth in the back of an ambulance on a farm track next to the A96. This is what happens when distance and access become barriers to essential services. Something must be done so rural communities don’t need to worry about how far away healthcare is.

I’m calling on the Scottish Government to fast track its wildfire review. We cannot afford another summer of devastation because the Government failed to prepare in time.

Transport is not a luxury, especially not in rural Scotland. It determines whether people can reach hospitals, get to work or even see a future in their community. That is why I secured last night’s debate on rural transport.

In rural Scotland it is not always possible to treat people in a Hospital at Home setting due to a lack of staff. Outcomes are getting worse and hospitals have significant delayed discharge as a result. This is why community hospitals are so vital.

Delighted to invite @easyJet into the Scottish Parliament today to discuss their contribution to our economy, opportunities for the future, and Air Departure Tax. I also asked about their plans to expand their current services at Inverness Airport and elsewhere.

I’ve secured a debate on rural transport this Thursday. Transport is a huge issue for those living across rural Scotland, affecting their communities, livelihoods and access to healthcare. You can watch on scottishparliament.tv

I wrote to the Defence Secretary in August, following the Cairngorms wildfire, to suggest adapting military aircraft for firefighting. Although it wasn’t taken up at the time, I’m delighted that this decision has now been made. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/raf-…

I support the licensing of Rosebank, do you? The UK gov have suggested in December they will not approve this vital new oil and gas field and the energy security and economic benefit it would bring. We must show Labour there is support for it.

The number of police incidents at Elgin Bus Station is alarmingly high. The SNP Government’s soft-touch approach to crime and a reluctance to confiscate bus passes threatens public safety and places more pressure on our already underfunded police force. news.stv.tv/north/police-res…

It is inconceivable that residents should be asked to move away from their community of 50 years because local health bosses can’t arrange a home care package. I have written to the First Minister to ask him to urgently investigate. westcoasttoday.co.uk/news/be…
