"Q. How democratic is the Israeli vote – and who is being disenfranchised?
A: About 15 million people live in areas under Israeli control. Just over 7 million Jewish Israelis and 1.7 million Palestinian citizens of Israel live within the country’s pre-1967 borders, known as the “green line”, and have full voting rights.
In the occupied West Bank, more than 500,000 Israeli settlers can vote. They live among 3.1 million Palestinians who are subject to military rule and do not have the right to vote.
In occupied East Jerusalem more than 230,000 Israelis with voting rights live among 350,000 Palestinians who cannot vote.
Two million Palestinians in Gaza, who live under Israeli military occupation, according to the international court of justice, also have no vote."

The reality of the "independent" review telling every school in England to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism: its author, Sir David Bell, was being paid by a government agency while he wrote it, and a pro-Israel charity has listed him on its council for ten years.
The government told the public he was "independent of Government" and had "no conflict of interest". Neither is true.
What we found:
- Bell was paid £20,000 a year as vice-chair of Skills England, a government agency, in a seat the Department for Education gave him. He held it until August, through most of the review.
- The Academic Study Group on Israel and the Middle East has listed him on its council since at least 2016. Its website says its one firm policy is opposing boycotts of Israel. It gives talks on Israel in schools, which is exactly what his review was asked to judge.
- In 2005, as chief inspector of schools, he singled out Muslim schools as a challenge to "our coherence as a nation". The chairman of the Association of Muslim Schools called it Islamophobia, and his own inspectors said he had presented a personal view as inspection evidence.
Then we followed the money:
- The department's £1.3 million antisemitism training contract had one bidder, according to the tender record. It went to Palace Yard, a company set up in 2022 by the former Labour MP Natascha Engel.
- That contract says all its training must use the IHRA definition "as a foundation". It was signed eight months before Bell was appointed. His review then recommended IHRA.
- Two of the people who advised Bell, from Partnerships for Jewish Schools and the Antisemitism Policy Trust, now sit on the group putting his recommendations into practice.
- The Union of Jewish Students, also on that group, holds a contract worth almost £1 million to train universities. Its own policies include "UJS to advocate for Israel within UK Policy and International Law".
- UK Lawyers for Israel* (UKLFI) and the Campaign Against Antisemitism* (CAA) both say the review adopted their recommendations.
*For context, UKLFI once justified the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli occupation as "good for obesity". Both these groups have staunchly defended Israel throughout its perpetration of a genocide in Gaza, and regularly conflate Jewish people with the apartheid state.
This matters because the review decides how every school treats what pupils and teachers say about Israel, and the IHRA definition it recommends treats some criticism of Israel as antisemitic. A review with that power should come from someone with no pay from government and no tie to a pro-Israel charity. Bell had both. The government put one in a footnote and left the other out.

Israel’s defenders: It’s not a genocide
Israelis: Palestinians must leave or we’ll kill them
A young blonde woman with an American accent in Israel says that all the Arabs must be kicked out of Gaza because it is "our land" since "God commanded us to take it."
The Palestinians should be kicked out to any other Arab state, she continues, except Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, "because they are ours."
"Or we will kill them," she adds
Can we stop pretending that this is a marginal view in Israel? That these are the comments of a fringe minority?
They are not. Israel has been on this path for quite some time.
Western governments know it fully - yet they continue to fund and enable Israel's genocidal policies.

Yay. Now we get to listen to Israelis lamenting that they didn’t know how bad things were in the West Bank all this time. Because listening to/believing Palestinians - who for decades have systematically documented/reported what is happening - was never an option.

One of the reasons the Biden admin gave as an excuse not to investigate Israeli war crimes was that Israel was investigating themselves. BBC Verify report found Israel publicly announced hundreds of “investigations” and in the vast majority of cases never mentioned them again

Israel killed 12X more kids in their 2014 bombing of Gaza than kids died on Oct 7, Israel’s casual bombing in 2021 killed 26 more kids than kids died in Oct 7. I’m curious what allowances the “Israelis were uniquely traumatized by Oct 7” people think this affords Palestinians?
An Israeli strike killed a woman in Gaza, as her daughter watched her burn alive. Video has been circulating all day, you can hear the little girl cry and see her engulfed in smoke.

We’ve reached the part of the genocide where, every week or two, another genocidaire will come forward with a testimony telling us what Palestinians have been telling us for years:
Israel systematically targets & murders civilians as part of its standard operating procedure.
⭕️ Israeli reservist tells Der Spiegel his unit killed Palestinians who approached hidden positions, then logged them as terrorists
The soldier, who spent about 250 days in Gaza, described a procedure his unit often used called “Alman Kasch,” in which troops take up concealed positions in areas that have not been evacuated and open fire on anyone who comes near.
“If Palestinians, who do not know that our soldiers are there, approach, they are shelled. Usually other people come along who want to help, they are also shot at. Within a few minutes, five, six or seven people are killed. The protocol says: seven terrorists eliminated. But no, it’s just seven people who crossed an intersection. Important: We do not kill, we eliminate. That’s how we’ve always phrased it.”
He said his brigade killed 160 to 170 people during more than 80 days in the Netzarim corridor, where “there were no fighting, no attacks by Hamas.”
“Only one man was suspected to carry a gun. No one saw the gun, it was night, and he had something with him that could have been interpreted as a weapon. He was killed about 500 meters north of the corridor, so he was not a direct danger, and we never examined his body. But not only him, but all these dead were reported as terrorists.”

Exactly what Israel did to 530 Palestinian villages in 1948 "so that they would have nothing to come back to." Everything the IDF do every day in Gaza is a reminder that Israel is a state built on the ethnic cleansing of its Palestinian inhabitants.

The ADL has once again accused a Nobel peace prize winner of antisemitism. Previous peace prize winners accused of antisemitism by the ADL: Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu, and Amnesty International. Weaponizing charges of antisemitism against human rights advocates, specifically against those who condemn Israel for violating Palestinian rights, undermines the fight against antisemitism.
In awarding the Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, the Nobel Committee rewards a record of legitimizing of demonizing Jews, Israelis and championing antizionism.
As chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry, Pillay drove the unsubstantiated "genocide" charge against Israel that has become a rallying cry for antisemites worldwide. She has previously accused Jews and Israel of having "ganged up" to distort the history of the Durban conference, defended a fellow COI commissioner's "Jewish lobby" remarks, and championed the Durban process that mainstreamed anti-Zionist antisemitism inside the UN.
Learning of this award in Nuremberg and using the moment to double down on the genocide claim is a betrayal of "never again." The Nobel Committee has handed its most prestigious honor to someone who has repeatedly given cover to antisemitic narratives. That is not peace. That is normalization of hate. cnn.com/2026/10/09/world/liv…
