"If you had taken my wife… I would kick your arsh every time I saw you for the rest of your life... But now that you've tried to take my job because I'm Kevin's friend and you want to fire me? I'll cut your f*cking head off and put it on a stick in front of your house for all the kids to throw rocks at."  In January 2000 despite intense real-life tension over Nancy Sullivan WCW booker Kevin Sullivan put the World Heavyweight Title on Chris Benoit at Souled Out as a gesture of goodwill. Uneasy about his future under Sullivan Benoit joined Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn in issuing an ultimatum to WCW management to fire the booking committee. When committee member Mike Graham found out Benoit was trying to get him fired he cornered Benoit in an empty arena to defend his job. Benoit immediately reported the death threat to HR prompting WCW to grant Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn their releases to avoid further legal chaos. Benoit vacated the WCW Title after just one day before the group jumped to WWE as "The Radicalz.” Graham doubled down in shoot interviews claiming WCW saved $2.5 million because the workrate stars "never drew a dime."

It’s a big swing. But sometimes you gotta take it and see where things go.

What excites me most about what's happening in today's Absolute Batman is that I've never seen that story for Bruce or Selina (or Bruce & Selina) before. It's a very big swing and I'm deeply excited for Scott and Nick and their incredible team to give it to us.

Take away the finish and this is still one of the greatest, most well built matches of all time. The intensity matched the fantasy your head built.
I think the brawl before the bell at the start of Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels Survivor Series 1997 is out of this world. The roles are perfect, the setting is perfect, and everything that happens here is exactly as it should go. Michaels is persona non grata. He’s reviled and the Montreal crowd is here to see their badass hero kick the shit out of this little rat. Shawn gives them what they want, selling the way a heel should given the dynamics, bumping off most of the initial punches and crawling around pathetically. Bret headbutts Shawn and sells it himself before clotheslining him to the outside. He’s willing to sacrifice himself to give his enemy what he deserves. Shawn’s in the eye of the storm, and when the guys go into the crowd, they get ENGULFED by it and it means trouble for HBK, who’s in a world of pain and anytime he tries to mount some kind of comeback or counter, it gets thwarted. Piledriver attempts become back body drop bumps, he’s eating total shit at every turn. Crowd brawling isn’t the same anymore because there’s security creating so much separation between the talent and fans. The appeal here is the feeling that the wrestlers are in no man’s land, with so much humanity surrounding them and popcorn and drinks flying everywhere. Because it isn’t neutral ground, there’s the sense that Shawn Michaels is facing potential danger the longer he stays in the water. Bret Hart gets Shawn Michaels to land, only to punish him some more. There’s a sick vertical suplex on to concrete, and only after minutes of ass-kicking, and only after Bret Hart feels satisfied with his pound of flesh does he decide to bring HBK back to the ring to have a match within the bounds of the rules, and he does so dragging Shawn Michaels BY THE HEAD back to the ring, showing him to the audience like a gladiator holding a scalp that he claimed. It’s SO perfect and I truly believe that this match was on its way to being a classic before What Happened Happened™️. Even as is, it’s a great match that gets overshadowed by the screwjob.

This was super over. Howard Stern was talking about it. Got a lot of press. And WCW didn’t make a CD.
The West Texas Rednecks were an underrated gem in 99’ WCW. I wish the group had a longer run!

This is a vile, disgraceful crime. What kind of person looks at the names of innocent people murdered on September 11 and decides to desecrate them? These are the names of people who never came home. People who kissed their children goodbye, went to work, and had their lives stolen. Their families come here to mourn. To see those names defaced is sickening. The 9/11 Memorial is sacred ground. Anyone who comes here must understand what this place means and treat it with the solemnity and respect it demands. Those names are not a canvas for anyone’s hatred. “Never Forget” is a promise to the dead and a duty of the living. Not just on September 11. Every day. Every year. Forever.

🚨 HOW MORALLY BANKRUPT DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO USE THE VICTIMS OF 9/11 AS A BILLBOARD FOR YOUR OWN WEBSITE?!?!?!?! A gun control activist spray painted his website across the engraved names of people murdered by terrorists. How can Jonathan Tijerina be so consumed by his own self-importance that he thinks nearly 3,000 innocent victims are nothing more than advertising space for his political crusade? He claims to want to stop innocent people from being killed, yet he cannot even demonstrate basic respect for those who have already been murdered! IS THIS ACTIVISM? NO! iT IS PATHETIC NARCISSISM ARMED WITH A SPRAY CAN! The 9/11 Memorial is sacred ground. It is a place for grieving families, remembrance, and national reflection that is not intended for personal publicity stunts. VICTIMS WERE EXPLOITED. The most spectacular failure of Jonathan’s performance is that instead of drawing attention to gun violence, he made himself the story. He turned an important, meaningful campaign about protecting innocent lives into a breathtaking demonstration of disrespect for innocent lives already lost. The victims deserve dignity, their families deserve respect, and Jonathan Andrew Tijerina should be held accountable.

I don’t think anyone is going to succeed in cancelling Freddy Krueger. They’ll be a lil enraged and then move onto their next target. Mostly because no real predators are tied to him. It’s just the same pearl clutching we saw in the 80s. Our boy’s gonna be fine!

LOTR is a good guy and a bad guy. There is a clear line between good and evil. It is NOT GOT. Stop trying to make LOTR into Game of Thrones. Neither audience wants that. The overlap doesn’t want it and the people don’t want it.
LOTR is arguably the single greatest example of moral realism in all of literature. Injecting moral relativism into Middle Earth fundamentally misunderstands Tolkien and flies in the face of everything he stood for. And don't come at me with 'moral complexity.' Relativism isn't complexity. It's confusion. It's a collapse of distinctions that has nothing to offer but meaninglessness and despair. In order to have meaningful 'moral complexity,' you have to establish a distiction between light and dark, right and wrong, good and evil. The complexity arises among characters that must navigate a world where both forces act around, upon, and within them. What modern Hollywood calls 'moral complexity' is actually just the erasing the distinction between good and evil. If a story can't show you light and dark, it can't say anything meaningful about them. Classic storytellers understood this. Modern Hollywood has completely memory holed it.

He loved playing that character. And it carried the franchise.
He looked calm until he said the parents are the ones slowly dying. Graham was going on about the hospital visits, how much the kids love Captain Jack, all the pictures. Depp sat there, then flipped it. He said the visits aren’t a gift he gives them. They’re the gift. He started talking about Great Ormond Street, how he’d already been there as a parent when his daughter was ill. Called it the darkest time of his life, right around Sweeney Todd. Then he drew the line: the kids are strong. It’s the parents you watch break. He paused after that, like he didn’t mean to say it out loud, before adding that bringing even a small smile is everything now. Most celebrities treat those visits like nice press. He talked about them like the only part of the character that still feels real.

Those movies are pure magic.
No podía.

So why aren’t they looting Staples, Office Depot or the French equivalent?
CNN guest panelist makes excuses for French rioters, Scott Jennings drops the mic on her. "French have always rioted, that's what they do. It's largely started by students who aren't getting supplies." "I saw a video today of what I guess was a 45-year-old bearded 7th grader."

Looking at the #Narnia trailer, it’s obvious to me that Greta Gerwig wants to make “A Wrinkle in Time” but someone got there first. Because the aesthetic is A Wrinkle in Time’s.
