TWELVE teams have appeared in this season’s Coaches Top 25 and are now unranked: Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Michigan, Penn State, Washington, Clemson, Mississippi State, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Duke, Pitt and Virginia. If an opponent improves, your win gains value. If it falls apart, that win should lose value, too. You shouldn’t get to freeze your opponent’s ranking at whatever makes your résumé look best.

November 12, 2002. Pure Tuesday night MACtion. 🍿 🎥 With Byron Leftwich sidelined, Marshall’s championship hopes rested on Stan Hill. He answered with 4 touchdown passes and the game-winning score with 10 seconds left to beat Ben Roethlisberger and Miami (OH), 36-34. The win kept the Herd in control of the MAC East race. Then the night got even crazier—the field filled with celebrating fans, emotions boiled over, and Miami’s defensive coordinator was arrested following a postgame altercation.
