What does the future of skilled trades look like in Canada? Our Executive Director, @baldouin, sat down with Brynn Bourke of @WeBuildBC to explore the current state of skills training in the trades, as well as the barriers and opportunities in the industry.
Guess the average age of an apprentice in Canada. 18? 19? It's actually 27. Yet, our system is still built for teenagers, assuming everyone decides their career in high school. This leaves thousands of potential trades workers stuck without the right training.

#ICYMI Watch FSC's Executive Director, @baldouin, discuss with experts Stefano Scarpetta (@OECD) & Lynette Plett (@UCN_hereyoucan) how to make training initiatives more current and inclusive, and governments' role in securing Canada's #FutureOfSkills. 📺lnkd.in/gcTwRux8
The future of Canada's workforce depends on supporting those who need it most. We must prioritize: ✅ Workers in SMEs who often lack access to training and upskilling opportunities. ✅ Individuals on the cusp of employment, bridging their skill gaps to unlock their potential.
