Duster Hybrid - Crisp Analysis ✅ Returned 19 kmpl after 80 km of use in Chennai traffic and highway usage ✅ Engine note is excellent, is eager to perform, feels outright and powerful ✅ Hybrid system works dynamically & very fast, it remains eager to charge the battery and on low speeds that process feels aggressive with a buzz on your pedal & steering ✅ Upshifting feels super smooth but downshifting is slightly noticeable ✅ The way tech works in real time, you feel like this is dirt cheap under 20L with 4-cyl, 1800 cc, 160 ps, 208 nm torque and fuel efficiency on offer. ✅ E-Save mode is good to have to manually charge your 1.4 kWh battery by keeping engine involved most of the time ✅ Precise steering, good feedback, excellent suspension with FDD and overall control. One of the best in segment to drive and with hybrid, no compromise on power in any way. Turning radius felt less too and it was easy to use in traffic. ✅ On low speeds, EV mode helps in good acceleration but regen engage early that you like. Honda City did well there in regen & overall smoothness that we drove a few months back. Duster returned 19 kmpl but it can easily return 20+ in mild traffic with AC because I took a lot of videos/shots with a static car and AC on. ✅ All variants are extremely VFM, I don’t think brand is looking to make any profits initially. ✅ Bootspace isn’t compromised and 7 yr of extended warranty is good to have without paying extra. You just need to stick with service centre for your oil service to fulfil this condition. ✅ Physical buttons, One touch up down windows with anti pinch are highly appreciated. ⚠️ Cabin feels slightly tighter as compared to other cars in this segment like Sierra, Seltos & Creta. Roof is slightly low. Glass area feels average. ⚠️ Downshifting was slightly noticeable and that regen ‘buzz’ on the pedal might irritate some drivers. ⚠️ Renault’s thin dealership & service network and long term ownership cost for this tech after 7 yr is unknown. Warranty on battery is 8 yr Verdict - 9 out of 10 as a package. Perfect for four as a family car with running above 1000 km looking for fuel efficiency, looks, performance, dynamics and comfort.
