We saw all of those "why is every protag white" media articles, GDC talks, diversity + representation pushes for years and media outrage for "incorrect" portrayals. You can't just pretend this never happened lol The sleight of hand that seems to be happening is that they don't see the exhausting browbeating of "asking for more representation/diversity" in the broad sense as DIRECTLY "asking for black protagonists". Which is a blatant lie when you just, you know, LISTEN to every single person who talks about diversity and representation ad nauseum. Not to mention that every company adopting DEI initiatives + consultant groups also allows them to have this cover of them no longer "asking". TL;DR weasels using weasel words to weasel out of being obnoxious cringelord weasels in the past because it's suddenly unfashionable to be a weasel
