This is an event I look forward to every year – where we recognize and celebrate the rich history of Black communities in our city. Thank you to the Black Internal Support Network, the Black Community Consultative Committee and @TPS_CPEU for your ongoing leadership and contributions to this event and throughout the year. #BlackHistoryMonth
February is #BlackHistoryMonth and on Thursday we recognized this important month at headquarters by raising the Pan-African flag and hosting a lively event with incredible food and entertainment culminating in the presentation of the Terry James Trailblazer Award posthumously to Constable Gloria Bartley.

Great job Danny. Thank you!!
Our first Community Champion shout-out for 2026 goes out to Danny Durante, owner of the No Frills in Yorkgate Mall.
Danny has always been the type of person who gives without expecting anything in return. Every Halloween he donates over 400 pumpkins to nearby elementary schools so kids can enjoy carving them. He regularly helps families in need with groceries, and every holiday season he gives away hundreds of turkeys and bags of potatoes to households in the neighborhood. He also sponsors a local soccer league, supporting kids who just want a chance to play. He never seeks any recognition. Everything he does is all for the love he has towards the community. He has been helping the community for so long everyone knows him by name.
Danny is now also a member of our 31 Division Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). Welcome aboard
Way to go Danny! Thank you for everything that you do. 👏🏽

Drive sober, it’s an easy choice. Let’s make sure all our loved ones arrive home safe this New Year’s eve.
Our officers are trained to detect drug impairment. @TrafficServices reminds us the consequences for being caught impaired by drugs are the same as alcohol.
We will be out tonight for #FestiveRide2025 spot checks taking people impaired by alcohol or drugs off the road.
Please drive sober!
Tonight and for days and nights to come, we'll be out in full effect checking for driver sobriety Drinking during the holidays happens at all times of day, and our goal is to ensure you, your loved ones, and friends make it home safe from those who choose to drive impaired
Did you know today
Mandatory Alcohol Screening is now law in Canada!
Thanks to Bill C-46, an amendment to the Criminal Code of Canada, police officers can demand a breath sample from ANY driver, WITHOUT needing reasonable suspicion of alcohol consumption
