This month I'm donating to @TransHousingCo, an org providing housing for Georgia trans and gender nonconforming people. The rise in LGBTQ+ hate crimes is terrifying & orgs like this are critical for providing safe shelter. Please donate if you can: transhousingcoalition.org/do…

This month I'm donating to @TransHousingCo a trans led org helping provide black trans women in Atlanta with safe, permanent housing. It has always been crucial work, but the current rush of anti-trans bills makes it even more so.

Women in THC's program just applied for the South's largest Guaranteed Income pilot, for Black women living in the Old 4th Ward – "the childhood neighborhood of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and where he preached about guaranteed income 50 years ago." 1/3

Called "In Her Hands," the program will choose 210 women fm the area by lottery to rcv. $850/mo. for 2 years. We're grateful that the fund allowed the formerly homeless women in our program to apply and glad to see Atlanta being put on the map with a guaranteed basic income 2/3
experiment, an idea that is also catching on elsewhere and being used not only to help address systemic barriers to escaping poverty, but also as a basis for research on what people in poverty really need. 3/3

I will be interviewing 100 LGBTQ elders over the next two years for a project I am calling “OLD & QUEER.” I believe it’s vital to collect stories from our elders while they’re still alive, and I’m excited to share the first one here:
Pat and Paulette, both 70, in Harlem, NYC 🧵
It's easy to forget w/all the daily doom and gloom that trans Black women are doing amazing things every day:

Why we can't stop saying gay, a story
On the first day of my senior year of high school, a new boy showed up in my AP English class.
He had transferred from a prestigious private school to my public school, and I was confused.
I asked him why he moved and he shrugged
