Elections have consequences and politics matter for our jobs, Union, industry, communities, and our families. The anti-labor, anti-transit forces are gunning to remove our friends from power. ATU U.S. members contribute to ATU-COPE today at atu.org/action/atu-cope! #1u

As @RepKamBuckner demonstrates here, the solutions are well known and have been for many years. What's missing is political leadership to take on the failing transportation status quo. Together we can build safer and more sustainable streets and neighborhoods!🚶🚲🚍🚉🌎❤️

What happens when Chicago passes an #ETOD ordinance? Communities like Washington Heights and Roseland – home to the $280MM CTA Red Line terminal – will see fewer vacant lots and more transit-oriented development along 95th Street. @elevated_chi

In 2021, 83 Chicagoans were killed by cars near a train station, 29 of them while walking or biking. We desperately need the #ConnectedCommunities ordinance to redesign station areas with people, not cars, at the center.

When Chicago's boulevards were designed in the 1870s, top travel speed was ≈10 mph. And even that was a luxury few could afford. Back then, wide undivided roadways made sense. But not anymore. A sensible redesign to reclaim these treasured spaces for the public is long overdue.

With gas prices surging, shared bikes and scooters could provide needed alternatives to driving — but only if people feel safe and comfortable riding them.
A network of PBLs would help Chicagoans shift short trips from cars to bikes/scooters. 🚲 🛴 🌎 activetrans.org/blog/new-chi…
