Since last night, the youth of #Togo have risen in defiance against the dictatorial regime of @FEGnassingbe. After two decades in power, Faure Gnassingbé scrapped presidential elections from the constitution to secure a lifetime grip on power, following in the footsteps of his father, Eyadéma Gnassingbé, who ruled #Togo with violence and fear for 38 years. Despite a protest ban imposed since 2018, Togolese youths are pushing back. They are resisting through protests erecting barricades across roads to block police trucks and slow down the regime’s repressive machinery. It’s been a long and difficult day, but the protests are far from over. The resistance continues. #FreeTogo #FaureMustGo
