I’m really delighted to share that I am to be appointed King’s Counsel.
To quote the very exciting letter I received yesterday:
“I am pleased to be writing to you on behalf of the Lord Chancellor, The Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, to let you know that The King has approved her recommendation that you should be appointed one of His Majesty’s Counsel.”
Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, including my wonderful colleagues, clerks, clients and family. A hearty congratulations to the other 104 new silks.

I am very concerned by the increasing onslaught on women-specific language, which seeks to erase the reality of womanhood itself and deny its innate and sex-related specificity. A number of influential media outlets, organizations, academic and health institutions, and experts are complicit in what can only be described as a new form of #ViolenceAgainstWomen. It must be stated that words such as "non-transgender women”, "cis women" and the like do not reflect any UN- or otherwise internationally-agreed standards. I call on media and all stakeholders to uphold the dignity of women and respect their human rights.

Essa é Flávia Maria de Lima, melhor atleta brasileira dos 800 metros rasos nos últimos 10 anos! Medalhista pan-americana, semifinalista mundial, Flávia viveu altos e baixos em sua carreira!
Após a Rio-2016 ela foi mãe, e demorou alguns anos para voltar ao ritmo de bons resultados! Ano passado, desistiu dos Jogos Pan-Americanos para passar um tempo com a filha. Esse ano, começou a competir apenas em maio, correndo risco de perder sua vaga olímpica!
