My latest article for @shot_au where I point out that Segal's latest 'report' was not requested by government or the PM.
It's simply a rehash of last year's report - with a purpose beyond its pages.
It's arrival has more to do with her strategy of filling media spaces with antisemitism angst now the royal commission is over, and also influencing the royal commission findings.
It is also a document designed to inflame culture wars and get people arguing and create political division - a classic tactic of conservatives the world over.
Nothing Segal says is new, (except of course for the astonishing claim she makes that all Jews in Australia are unbothered by neo-Nazis!)

My view on the scrum debate between the Springboks & All Blacks
There’s been plenty of chatter around the scrums - Angus Gardner was pretty clear with his communication: this was the second reset on the second scrum.
On this particular scrum, Lomax gets the better of Gerhard Steenekamp & Gus let’s play continue, which I don’t have an issue with. Chances of getting defending team being penalised in their own 22 are potentially 0 😂
But the bigger talking point for me is the legality of the scrum.
Scrummaging is one of the most technical areas of rugby, and ultimately, safety and stability are the priorities. You only really achieve that when both front rows are engaging and pushing square and straight, within the laws.
And this is where I think we need to be honest: just because nobody has previously penalised or pointed out that the Boks may not have been pushing square and straight, it doesn’t automatically mean they’ve been doing it correctly all along.
When you come up against a team that can genuinely match you pound-for-pound, they will test you. They’ll look at your technique, identify what you’re doing, and challenge anything they believe isn’t legal.
And when both teams are scrummaging legally, you can actually see the difference stability, balance and a genuine contest.
For me, Angus Gardner did a fantastic job managing this area of the game. He communicated clearly, identified the resets and managed the contest without unnecessarily dominating the game.
Interestingly, he could have penalised the Boks on the clip below, but chose to play on. I have absolutely no issue with that decision.

The First Fleet and the Myth of Monoculture
The idea that the First Fleet brought a pure “British monoculture” to Australia is a myth.
While mostly from the British Isles (English majority + ~141 Irish, 33 Scottish, 9 Welsh), the fleet also carried:
• At least 14 North Americans
• 12+ people of African descent (from Africa, West Indies, America & beyond)
• Others from France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, India & more
Researchers have identified ~235 non-English First Fleeters. Real diversity from day one.

Bit of chat on about who’d win out of the Hurricanes and Bordeaux-Begles. Pita Ahki won five Top 14 titles with Toulouse, now back at the Blues so he’s in a about as good a position as anyone to compare Super Rugby Pacific and the Top 14

Immense planning and technical precision was required for this absolutely preposterous (but real) view: I captured my friend @BlackGryph0n transiting the sun during a skydive.
This might be the first photo of it's kind in existence. See a video of this moment in the reply 👇

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
