We are now in the Red Warning period. Expect flying debris, fallen and uprooted trees together with localised flooding. Roads and bridges may close, so delays and cancellations to bus services are inevitable. If you really must travel plan ahead and drive safely. @DevonCC

Fewer bus passengers mean cuts to services. Until passenger numbers recover @RishiSunak must keep funding buses to ensure communities aren’t cut off. @CBTransport, @BusUsersUK, @UTG_UK, @CPRE, @WomensInstitute, @TransportActio2, @Sustrans, @livingstreets, @cities_s_
Along with @CPT_UK, @BusUsersUK, @UTG_UK, @CPRE, @WomensInstitute, @TransportActio2, @Sustrans, @livingstreets, @cities_clean we've written to the Chancellor @RishiSunak urging him to extend bus recovery funding to ensure services aren’t cut while the country returns to normal.

He did. But SWR issued a statement afterwards pointedly failing to confirm it, and the following morning the new Transport Minister gave a different answer to the PM, which carefully included neither a date nor a specific level of service. We still have neither.

Devastating news from my procurement team: given the upcoming HUGE% increase in electricity (increase of £624k per annum 💰💰💰) they are advising that we charge our #ZeroEmission #Buses by diesel generators 🙇‍♂️🙆‍♂️🤯

In response to my earlier tweet, a respected long-serving SWR employee told me: “You’re having a laugh. Not enough trains, not enough people to fix them. Only way our new trains will be made useful any time soon is if they are recycled into baked bean tins.” Off record, obvs.
The Prime Minister told MPs that ⁦@SW_Help⁩ services will return to the December timetable level from 19 Feb. That would include reinstating through services west of Salisbury. Here’s what the company says. It isn’t quite the same thing.

Two different trains. Two different rules. But the same route from Reading to Paddington. On @GWRHelp a face covering is recommended but not required from today. But on @TfL Elizabeth Line services masks are mandatory. Confusing? I reckon the mask rate is 1 person in 3 here.

If we're serious about climate change, we all need to make a partial or total switch to active, shared and public transport. Electric cars are not the answer.
Imagine if they were all electric instead - it would make no difference. Places dominated by private cars are not pleasant. EVs are not the solution to our Climate and Nature crises - but you’d never have guessed it from #COP26 theguardian.com/uk-news/2021…
