Great test tonight in our scrimmage against a top-ranked Florida Southern team! We created plenty of good opportunities but came up short 96-90. Proud of the way our guys competed and battled until the end!
A lot of positives to build on and plenty of areas to improve. We’ll learn, grow, and be better!
Great preparation for our season opener on Friday! 🦅🦅🦅🏀@PolkStateHoops

BE CONSISTENT. KEEP WORKING. 💯
I can promise you one thing — WE ARE WORKING! 😤
Week 2 ✅
Friday morning road games are always a challenge, but when you’ve got a bunch of DOGS who fight through adversity, compete for each other, and refuse to fold… IT MEANS MORE. 🐶🔥
No excuses. No shortcuts. Just WORK.
Keep building. Keep believing. Keep stacking days.
One week at a time. TOGETHER.

I’ve got to give my guys everything this game has blessed me with—the knowledge, the lessons, the wins, the losses, and the wisdom that came with every experience. This is bigger than ball. It’s about life, discipline, character, and becoming the best version of yourself. If I can help prepare the next generation for the game AND for life, then I’m doing what I was called to do. 💯🏀🙏🏾”

FUN FACT FRIDAY: Polk State Basketball will play four games out of state in 2026-27
Having played 10 NBA seasons for six different teams, new Head Polk State Basketball Coach Marreese Speights is no stranger to traveling for road games. Traditionally, however, leaving the state isn't something that Polk State has done a lot of. That will change this season as the Eagles leave the state twice for a total of four out-of-state contests.
In mid-November, Polk State will travel to Missouri for the West Plains Grizzly Tournament for contests in back-to-back days. The Eagles will battle host Missouri State University-West Plains on Nov. 13 before facing Moberly Area Community College the following day at the same location. To begin December, Polk State will head to the Peach State for a pair of road games against Georgia schools. After visiting South Georgia State College on Dec. 3, the Eagles conclude their trip at Albany Technical College on Dec. 4.
Polk State didn't leave the Sunshine State last season but did go 1-1 at the East Georgia State Classic in Swainsboro two years ago. With the start of the 2026-27 season and the Speights era about three months, the schedule is nearly set. The Eagles are slated to open the season at home against Warner University JV on Oct. 30.
