Lula victory wasn't "fear of lost benefits", it was the loss of the entire nation to the enforcer of the "Donroe Doctrine"
The Wall Street Journal looks at 64 million Brazilians rejecting a US-backed oligarchic dynasty and calls it "fear of lost benefits."
This is pure imperial mindset. They reduce a sovereign nation's fight for its very survival into a petty dispute over welfare checks.
What they actually mean is that the Brazilian working class understood exactly what was coming.
They knew the empire was coming to strip the social wage, extract their critical minerals, and turn Latin America's giant back into an obedient vassal state.
