My aunt Eilís O'Connor (Bone) RIP and my dearest friend AnnMarie Quinn (Ballymurphy) in the yard in Armagh Gaol 50 years ago today. We remember Eilís and all the remarkable, redoubtable Republican women prisoners who defied the might and violence of the British state.

Sad to hear of the passing of Cllr Pat Karney. Although I only met him a few times during visits to Manchester, his fierce passion for his city & his dedicated advocacy for the Irish community- both in Manchester & across Britain more broadly- shone through. May he rest in peace.

The people who sprayed this at Pauls workplace - could not lace his boots. A man of community - selfless, dedicated and courageously taking a stand against sectarianism and intimidation. Those using the language of mob, rabble, sanitise and sterilise in relation to the Garvaghy Road and its people need to urgently stand down and reflect on their language. In the 1990s - 21 people lost their lives as a result of the Drumcree dispute. Threats like this to Paul are precisely the reason we took such a strong stand against those eager to drag us back. Solidarity to Paul. There can be no going back.

🚨⚠️NEW: Sinn Féin councillor 'frightened' after threats at work as Michelle O'Neill says no-confidence motion will 'go nowhere' 🎥@sinnfeinireland Councillor Paul Duffy says he feels frightened after being threatened at his workplace. ⬇️Images in the video below show graffiti that appeared at the site. 🎤He told Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 that he has worked there for some time without any issues until now, but says he can no longer return. First Minister @moneillsf has condemned the threats, describing them as completely unacceptable. On the motion of no confidence she faces today, alongside other Sinn Féin ministers, she says it is 'performative and for the optics' and will "go nowhere." Asked whether she believes Stormont is heading towards collapse, Michelle O'Neill made clear that her party will continue working towards delivery. She also confirmed she will cooperate with the PSNI after receiving a letter containing details of a police interview in connection with the Garvaghy Road protests. More on-air and online.
⁉️⛔️NEW: First Minister Michelle O'Neill to face vote of no confidence at Stormont 👥First Minister Michelle O'Neill will face a vote of no confidence at Stormont today over her handling of the Drumcree/Garvaghy Road parading dispute. The DUP, UUP and TUV have united behind the motion, while Michelle O'Neill says she was standing alongside residents. She has also been invited to attend a police interview as part of an investigation into the demonstrations. Three other Sinn Féin ministers are also facing votes of no confidence. However, the motions are expected to fail, as they require the support of a majority of both unionist and nationalist MLAs. Our Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 is at Stormont.

I spent almost two weeks on the Garvaghy Road supporting the residents. I spent most of my time on the night watch until 6-7am depending on police activity. I managed to take a lot of photos of the Garvaghy Road at night to show how peaceful and well managed the protest was. While I expected a lot of abuse from loyalists, I was amazed at the amount of abuse and threats that came from Irish far right "patriots." Instead of supporting the residents the "patriots" sided with the loyalists. I should have expected this as many "patriots" marched and drank with loyalists during the various race riots and protests over the past year. They are absolute scum who contribute nothing to Ireland. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. A huge thank you to the residents of Garvaghy Road for taking me in and making me feel so welcome. So happy you got the peaceful outcome you all wanted. No going back. 🇮🇪
