⚖️ AFTER REVIEW | GW7
Bench Boost outscored the additional Haaland Triple Captain return by 6 points.
But was that sound strategy or a favourable outcome?

Context over Consensus.

I increasingly struggle to believe that some of the Arsenal supporters online actually support Arsenal.
The relentless pursuit of gotcha moments, dopamine hits and imaginary points-scoring is genuinely unbefitting.

⚖️ THE EVIDENCE
Cherki’s minutes.
Robertson’s uncertainty.
Haaland’s TC ceiling.
Is Bench Boost GW7 discipline or stubbornness?
The strategy was predetermined. The verdict is not.

Points tell you what happened.
They don’t necessarily tell you what changed.

His fixtures aren’t perfect.
But neither is paying £7.9m for potential that isn’t becoming points.
So the real question isn’t:
“Will Thiago eventually return?”
It’s whether continuing to wait represents good process… or attachment to being proven right.

Then there’s the zestiest striker of them all…Calvert-Lewin.
£6.0m.
Penalties.
Focal point.
Potentially £1.9m released.
Could the 3rd FWD simply become a set and forget?

Thiago is a different conversation.
Four starts.
No return.
And bookings mean he’s struggling to provide even the bare minimum.
The underlying numbers still say patience.
But at £7.9m…
…my workbook says: prove it.

Mbeumo added 0.56 xGI for just two FPL points.
That isn’t necessarily failure.
It’s just information, useful at that.
The mechanism strengthened. The outcome didn’t follow.

75 points. Green arrow. 400k+ rank gain.
Haaland delivered… just.
Groß exploded… as predicted.
Pedro returned.
Mbeumo didn’t.
But this is where outcome can lie to you. 🧵👇🏾

Groß. Captaincy. Hear me out. ⚖️
Coventry concede 50% of their chances centrally.
Brighton lead my dataset for attacking process: 7.37 xG | 15 big chances.
Groß? 0.85 npxG, with a big chance missed in GW3.
Not a differential. A battlefield.

Price volatility is almost forcing my hand or is it FOMO?

Why do managers wildcard a week prior and/or on the return from the interlull.
On one hand, health state could go haywire whilst away.
On the other, form prior to the wildcard is not guaranteed on return after a month away.
That’s a lot of uncertainty.

GW3 REVIEW
Green arrow.
Satisfied? Not on your nelly.
Goals were difficult to find across the squad and this felt like an opportunity to make considerably more ground.
But poor execution doesn’t automatically mean poor decisions.
Time to separate the two. 🧵👇🏾

He came into the season with Arteta talking about load managing him, suggesting he was approaching the red zone.
He picked up a knock prior to this game and hardly trained.
But.
Let’s not enjoy the win, let’s find a way to be upset

So the chip is gone. What now?
Don’t spend the season trying to “win those points back.”
Instead, identify the obvious future TC opportunities and protect against them.
If Haaland/Bruno becomes the obvious TC later, owning & captaining them can substantially reduce the damage.
TripleCaptains retweeted
And this is why TC may actually be the weakest chip.
You can optimise the fixture, player, role and expected minutes.
You cannot plan the finishing.
BB/FH/WC allow considerably more structural planning.
TC concentrates your exposure to variance into ONE player, in ONE match.

Haaland vs Coventry:
0.90 npxG
1.22 xGI
2 big chances
4 shots inside the box
8 penalty-area touches
0.23 xG/shot
67% non-penalty chance involvement
He scored once.
The process created the opportunities. Execution didn’t create the ceiling.

We are not even going to ask why you have a dolled up pig in your repertoire 😭🤣😭 but point taken.
TRIPLE CAPTAIN: 27 POINTS. 🫠
Haaland scored the winner and collected bonus, but let’s call it what it is…
9 #FPL points × 3 is a disappointing TC return.
But disappointing outcome ≠ bad decision.
The underlying numbers are rather interesting. 🧵👇🏾

And then Haaland.
COV(H) Elite team attacking environment. Proven concentration of City’s best chances
Captaincy isn’t complicated this week
The uncertainty is everywhere else
So GW3 becomes:
Observe → Test → Update → Decide
Information is everywhere
Edge is earned

Tzolis is the opposite lesson.
Villa produced virtually nothing: 0 shots, 0.00 xG, ~0.01 xA in 45 mins.
But the opening sample still contains 4 shots, 2 SOT and 10 box touches in 120 PL mins.
So CHE(H) = BENCH, not SELL.
One game doesn’t erase a mechanism.
