Anyone got a security contact at @TooLostDistro? I haven’t been able to raise them via their published email address.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to get everything back up and running. New breach: Harvard University was targeted by ShinyHunters last year in a breach that exposed 851k unique email addresses. Data included personal info related to the university's alumni and fundraising systems. 64% were already in @haveibeenpwned. More: haveibeenpwned.com/Breach/Ha…

I've got a real issue with reporting like this, where journos trawl through data breaches then publish a whole bunch of PII "in the public interest". It's a massive privacy violation and that alone should be enough to stop it.

And finally, the irresponsibility of the services that have made sensitive PII easily searchable and able to publicise it in this fashion. They made it trivial to pull not just a political candidate's data, but his sister's as well. FFS.

I don't remember the last time tech has been this exciting. It's white hot right now. Anyone who loves technology and computers is probably having a great time right now.

Well, that’s one way of doing it!
eMudhra login to download customer's certs can be cracked Their 1FA login generates a OTP & sends it. It also sends a RSA public key to front end They haven't rate limited checks, so you can offline brute force 0 to 9999 encrypted with public key & find the OTP @ni5arga

The "social media amplification" is because this is, without doubt, one of the dumbest security flaws we've ever seen in this industry. Frankly, the criticism has been pretty proportionate to the potential impact of this, and I find that statement hugely tone deaf.

More of the same from Google:
A brief update on the critical vulnerabilities in PHP:  We have not yet validated exploitation in the wild and we have no evidence of successful wide scale exploitation. There are currently several exploit PoCs publicly circulating, many of which appear to be "vibe-coded" and are incapable of remote code execution. We have validated some PoCs, however, that are capable of RCE against default deployments of mod_php but not PHP-FPM. Nonetheless, exploitation may have already begun in a limited fashion and the threat is viable and very serious. Defenders should: 1) Patch & Restart by upgrading to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, or 8.2.35 and restarting web services 2) Layer Temporary Safeguards at the network edge (WAF/proxy rules) and server configuration level if immediate patching requires a maintenance window 3) Protect Credentials by monitoring for abnormal session traffic and rotating keys and passwords on compromised internet-facing PHP systems exposed prior to patching 🔗 We are continually updating our Cloud Security blog post on this topic with real-world guidance and actionable defense strategies as we learn more. Please keep monitoring these posts for updates as you prioritize your patching efforts: cloud.google.com/blog/produc…  🔗 Technical details from Wiz: wiz.io/blog/php2shell-php-rc… 🔗 Details of the exposure from VirusTotal: blog.virustotal.com/2026/10/…

Have we seen any documented breaches / exploitation traced back to either PHP2Shell or the eMudhra debacle? Massive headlines this week, what’s the impact so far (other than all the scrambling to patch etc)?

This is kinda where I was going with the original question:
We protect over 5 million PHP sites and when we find a major exploitable vulnerability, we always see site cleanings. We have seen exactly zero hacked sites from php2shell. Zero. Across a population of 5 million PHP sites that our product protects. Draw your own conclusions. #php2shell

Big thanks to @originhq for sponsoring my blog this week! After the Hugging Face incident, everyone asked the same thing. What did the agents actually do? Origin answers it: prompt to outcome. originhq.com/?utm_source=tro…
