Adam Hamilton has been deeply involved in resettling refugees, a large percentage of them Muslim, in the Kansas City metro. He has directed his 24k member congregation to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars towards this effort, in fact.

JoCo Chair Mike Kelly (D) is using his Amberwave PAC to purify the Johnson County Commission to only have Democratic members. Kelly's PAC is spending $25.5K to support incumbent Democrat Beck Fast against Republican challenger Ben Hobert, and $34K to support Greg Mitchell (D) to knock out the only Republican commissioner, Michael Ashcraft. The Board of County Commissioners is the election board that certifies elections. If Kelly succeeds in knocking out Ashcraft, the county election board will be 7 Democrats and 0 Republicans. That doesn't seem right for the makeup of a county election board. Perhaps something for the legislature to review? Kelly's Amberwave PAC is also spending $24.5K to support Amy Diediker (D) against Jim McMullen (R) in State Board of Ed district 3. With such a "nonpartisan" chair of JoCo, it's time to return to partisan county commissioner elections. Why are we forced to pretend these contests are "nonpartisan?"
