Parents should not be penalized in the calculation of their retirement benefits for taking time off to be with their children.
That is why Conservatives just announced a plan to make the calculation of retirement benefits fair for all families.
And by absurdly high water utility increases we mean $88 per month extra and $1056 extra per year, but hey! I’m just going to complain about the $338 increase the provincial government is doing on Calgarian property taxes, because it’s bad unless I do it.
Last time I checked Jeromy Farkas is the mayor and votes yes to an absurdly high increase to water utilities.
Doing this “oh shucks” routine after you clearly were voting for something stupid and cost overruns should’ve been assumed to be taking place considering how bloated the city budget has become over the last decade is just monumentally pathetic.
Too bad for Farkas the Independence issue is now gone and he can’t score cheat points with the media standing against the nonexistent tide of separatists to distract from his awful governance of the city.
Who does he owe a favour to?
Because the old councillor Farkas would have been in favour of auditing the government and slashing wasteful spending and stupid programs to save taxpayers money.
But now he doesn’t want to do any of that.
And he’s trying to justify over 70% increases in water, utility costs and a 15% increase to property taxes this year alone.
Sorry, things don’t cost this much unless you refuse to get real and understand what is a need and what is a foolish want.
If you went back to the 1990s or early 2000s there were many departments and programs that did not exist because they are in fact, not necessary for city government and just plain wasteful.
