Before you apply to the EFCC in 2026, read this (Some of you should not even apply)
1. If you have cockroaches in your cupboard, avoid EFCC.
The recruitment process involves background checks and those EFCC detectives will sniff out everything you did from 10 years ago.
Previous conviction.
Substance abuse.
Forged qualifications, falsified information.
Prosecution follows for anyone found liable under the EFCC Act.
Yes, it's that serious.
2. If you are a lawyer who does not enjoy litigation, apply as a Detective, not as an experienced professional.
The EFCC has no space for in-house counsel who spend all day reviewing contracts.
EFCC prosecutors go to court mandatorily.
3. All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a mandatory 6 to 12-month cadet training.
There’s no escaping this.
If you know you're not ready for intense military drills, endurance treks and a regimented life, weigh your options.
4. Pay attention to the various cadres, i.e, Detective Superintendent, Detective Assistant and Detective Inspector.
Whatever your inspiration, do not apply with a lesser qualification in hope that you will cross cadres later.
It is very tough, if not impossible to do that in reality.
5. Once you meet the preliminary requirements, you will be invited to write a CBT test covering current affairs, English and Mathematics as the next stage of the recruitment process.
Forget all those websites claiming to have EFCC past questions.
No one has EFCC recruitment questions except EFCC itself.
6. The EFCC is an elitist law enforcement agency.
Not a ministry where you go to coast along until retirement.
Unlike any other group of public servants you have encountered in Nigeria, diligence and integrity are valued above all else.
Don't apply if you're only looking for a place to chill or make fast money.
7. Apply even if you do not meet some of the stipulated criteria.
The height requirement for instance.
Or if you're still completing your NYSC.
There's as yet no stated time for the cadet training and who knows?
Your height may be overlooked or you may just receive your Discharge certificate in time for training.
8. You don’t need to know someone in high places before you apply.
Submit your application, prepare well for the CBT and leave room for God’s favour.
Don’t disqualify yourself because you don’t have a powerful surname or a well-connected uncle somewhere.
The EFCC is one of the most multicultural working environments in Nigeria where excellence is rewarded and the federal character principle truly applies.
9. Do not pay anyone any fee to influence the outcome.
EFCC does not charge an application fee just as they do not charge any so-called mobilization fee to investigate a petition.
Avoid all these charlatans claiming to have influence with the EFCC.
Tread carefully, the Eagle is always watching.
Wishing you all the best as you apply.
P.S: This post reflects my personal opinions. Always refer to the official recruitment announcement for guidance.
Some of you are very wicked and dishonest. I hope that when the tables are turned, you will still maintain this same position about not burying a man in the house he built from scratch, a house where he felt at peace and was comfortable.
I hope that when a man's wife dies and he insists on burying her in a cemetery instead of the house they both built, you will take this same stand.
I still don't see any reason why Toluwanising's should be buried in a cemetery where he could be buried on top of someone else, with another person eventually buried on top of him, when he already has a house of his own.
