NEW episode:
The 5 Questions on Your New York City Ballot, with @PatrickGaspard & @AMCheng2016
Listen at Max Politics wherever you get podcasts /1
In a statement, @NYCMayor Mamdani celebrates @NYCCouncil passage of the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA) & says “I look forward to signing this bill into law” /1
2/ A @NYCHousing rep tells me that HPD estimates ~3,400 buildings are currently potentially COPA eligible (if they were to be put up for sale; most won't be), a larger # than the 2,100 cited at times earlier Thurs (but less than 10K estimated under a prior version of the bill).
3/ Lead sponsor @SandyforCouncil will join me on the podcast Friday to discuss everything COPA — its final details, how it got to passage in the new Council, what comes next as it heads toward Mamdani's signature & implementation, & what it could mean for the city's housing...
Really quite a time for those around for the 2013 mayoral race
WE DID IT! We will have more to say, and many more to thank. But right now we will just say THANK YOU @speakermenin @nycmayor @chrismartenyc and all the many passionate advocates and supporters of the successful effort today to pass Romanch’s Law to BAN Deadly Horse Carriages in NYC!
History was made today! The next step is transitioning the horses to loving rescue farms. Stay tuned for more details to come.
"If anyone here believes that as a consequence of all of the layering, like a Russian nesting doll, we've done in city government over the last decades...has somehow reduced corruption, then perhaps you didn't pay a lot of attention to the previous 4 years of city government"

The @NYCCouncil Progressive Caucus is set to pass a major priority today, the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act.
@NYCProgressives will first rally for its larger agenda, which I discussed this summer w/ Co-Chairs @SandyforCouncil & @Tiffany_Caban: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
^The conversation w/ CMs Nurse & Cabán got into a good bit on the strength of the Progressive Caucus, its shifting membership & focus areas, the police reform bills in its agenda, & much more: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
...And I'll have more very soon with @SandyforCouncil on her Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA), that is expected to pass today (Thursday) in its latest iteration, updated somewhat after it passed late last year & was vetoed by Mayor Adams...

Tish says she’s totally neutral on Trump.
