I have to admit this is shocking (if true).
This one stat drives home the stark difference between socialized healthcare and private options.
Hey @grok how many MRI machines are in Pennsylvania versus all of Canada? Give me two numbers only, Pennsylvania first, Canada second.
Just saw this stat on the election:
"POLITICO's county-level House data found turnout up 15.1% over 2022 in counties Harris won by 70+ points, versus just 7.1% in counties Trump won by 70+. That gap is the mechanical explanation for the wave."
Enthusiasm carries the day again. The Democrats hate Trump more than the Republicans love him right now.
Republican's failure to secure voting security, the border, prosecute Deep State criminals, and failing to curb spending (among many failed promises) broke the will of their base, I suspect.
Pretty much nailed it.
Midterms always hurt the party in power. It's one of the most predictable outcomes in politics.
I suspect the next two years will be even more divisive. Democrats feel like they have momentum and permission to push their agenda.
I'll be shocked if there isn't another impeachment for ... something. (That won't help anyone, I suspect.)
Republicans will rightly ask what went wrong, and the OP here has laid it bare - if you say you are going to do something, do it.
The issue now is, what did Democrats say they are going to do with control of the House and Senate?
Open borders, higher taxes, DEI, increased welfare, climate spending (de-industrialization), abandoning Israel, and hating Trump seems to be the party platform.
What major policy issue am I missing or wrong about?
I'm not sure that group of policies will create a stable and predictable future for Americans.
At the end of the day, I think that is the key to the American electorate - make life more predictable. Don't shock us all the time with policies and actions that defy logic, common sense, or inflict self-harm.
The 2028 Presidential race will be fascinating.
But the next 2 years are going to be tumultuous.
When the GOP loses today, they only have themselves to blame.
We all voted for Trumps agenda and you all betrayed us.
We were promised mass deportations and when you started getting heat from loud mouth liberals, you backed off.
We were promised the Epstein files and when your donors told you not to release all of it, you caved.
We were promised election reform and when the Save America Act was put in front of you, you failed to pass it.
You promised accountability and all we got was empty promises and billions more in fraud.
The fact is, none of you have the courage to get things done because you're a bunch of sell outs who were bought and paid for by special interest.
You've become the swamp you said you'd drain.
Reap what you Sow.
I have an idea that might help make America a better place.
Build porches on the front of houses again.
It would greatly improve connection and communication in neighborhoods.
Folks can have a beer or chat with friends and still see their neighbors walking the dog or taking out the trash.
A simple wave and "Hello" might make the neighborhood a little closer and friendlier.
Some hard truths about the Chiefs.
- Chris Jones is not a top 10 DL anymore. His salary is dragging the team down a bad road.
- Kicking is mental. Butker is fried. It's time to cut him and his giant salary. No one can possibly trust him anymore.
- The D-line is broken.
-The O-line is broken.
- Worthy is a WR3 or 4, not a 2 (much less a 1). Cyrus needs his snaps.
-Gilman is slow and bad. The goaline stop was cool, but his play overall has been horrendous. He's a liability.
-Sneed is cooked. Get Canady in there. Start looking ahead.
- Connor was not great either. He's coming back from IR so I'll give him a pass for now. Where is Hicks?
- Creed needs to have a snapping lesson and perform 100 perfect snaps everyday before he leaves the building.
- Toub is not "The best Special Teams coach" in the NFL, maybe not even in the Big 12.
- Remigio can catch punts, but he's slow and will never contribute as a WR or a SP gunner. Wasted roster spot.
- Ending with positives - The RBs room is great. QB is great, Karlaftis is playing well, Delane has been good, Rice makes a difference, Kelce is still a TE1, Winchester is perfect, Ariza is doing a good job, Cyrus Allen has some juice, Bolton and Tranquill are holding it together (mostly), and I still think Reid is a good coach despite some bad game management last night.
OK, our time is up. See you next week.
Another thought that I struggle with.
Players are either rising, plateaued, or declining.
(Some examples but not a complete list)
Emmitt Johnson and Delane are examples of Rising Players. They are good and getting better. These are hard players to find and keep, but they are worth every penny. If you find one, hold on to them.
Bolton and Jaylon Moore are plateaued - They are decent, but not getting better. Still valuable. This is the largest group of players. They make up the bulk of most NFL rosters. They are dependable, capable players on the whole.
Jones, Butker, Caliendo, Sneed, and Gilman (Tranquill is close) are examples of declining players. They are at or approaching 30. They can play well, but time and/or injuries are catching up with them consistently. They have lost a step. The cliff is within sight.
It hurts your heart to move on from declining players, but getting trade value or making room for a younger plateauing player, or taking a chance on a possible rising player, makes sense.
Thanks for the responses. Truly.
If Andy has a blind spot, it's loyalty. It's true with coaches and players.
Loyalty can cut both ways but, on the whole, it's a good thing.
However, loyalty without consequences is open to getting abused. I think that's happened with both players and coaches. Toub and Butker are the latest examples.
This also shows up with acquiring players. We resign or trade for players that used to be here, a lot. The argument is that they "know the system."
But if there is a better player who you can coach, isn't that a better investment?
Is signing Watson (or Juju, or Demarcus Robinson, or MVS, or name a retread) really better than trading for Brian Thomas Jr.?
Did getting Sneed back really help? Or was it just the easier path? Did it work with Pennel or Nnadi in the past? Will Tyreek really fix things if we sign him? No one else is out there beating down his door.
I think the proof has been established that retreads don't make you better, they simply plug leaks that don't really get sealed anyway.
Veach obviously plays a big role in this too.

Are you getting robbed or getting bailed out?
I'm gonna say it and you have to read it.
Xavier Worthy for Marvin Harrison Jr. - straight up.
Xavier just isn't a good fit in KC. MHJ needs a new environment, he's clearly on a downward spiral.
And if the Chiefs add Tyreek, Worthy is not going to get any targets with Rice, Kelce, and Thorton already showing more than Worthy.

It's passion, Americana, religion, madness, and talent wrapped in a fever dream.
I've watched this a dozen times this weekend and it's stuck in me like a crooked thorn. This is art. Pure American art. A rare performance.

Brooke Goldstein sat on a CNN panel and did the one thing that table almost never allows. She spoke as someone who actually went.
Two years in and out of Jenin, Ramallah, Tulkarem, and Nablus. Interviews with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, not through a press release and not through a translator who works for the story. They told her to her face that they want war. That is not a talking point she invented in a green room. That is what they said.
The rest of the table looked the way people look when the script gets interrupted. They have never been in Samaria or Judea. They have never watched the propaganda machine operate on the ground and then come home to hear it repeated as news. They sit on a sofa in a studio and decide what Israel is allowed to do, while the people who have been there keep getting treated as the problem for noticing that this is an ideology that teaches children to love death and then parks those children in front of the launcher.
She said the quiet part without raising her voice. It is not only Hamas. It is what the schools print. It is what the commanders admit. It is why there can be food in the Strip and still be starvation, because Hamas treats the warehouse the same way it treats the tent.
CNN will air the clip, then go back to calling itself journalism, and still act wounded the next time someone says the network is selling a product instead of a report.
@GoldsteinBrooke already did the work they refuse to do. They just did not like hearing it at their own table.
59% of Democrats would have a "Somewhat Positive" or "Very Positive" view of a military coup to remove Trump.
That is jaw-dropping.
Replying to @StratPolitics
We polled five routes for Trump to leave office before the end of his term. A plurality of Dems support four of them, including a military coup and death by natural causes. The only one underwater, an assassination, is still supported by 29%.
Acid wash jeans and a Chiefs tank top.
The transformation is complete.
She's one of us now, Kansas City.
We couldn't love her more!
The Chiefs currently don't have their 2025 first and second round picks or 2026 first round pick.
That's rough. Feel lucky to survive that so far.
I grew up in a the age of Star Wars and the launch of Cable TV. At that time, kids across the US saw Hollywood (and California) as some sort of nirvana of beauty, sun, wealth, and success.
It's amazing how in less than 50 years Liberal politicians have absolutely hollowed out that state.
They had everything. In the 80' California felt like some kind of paradise. Now folks can't leave fast enough.
