🚨🇺🇸 Every TV and radio in America will cut to an emergency alert on Nov. 17, as governments across the West tell their people to stock up and prepare FEMA and the FCC have the nationwide Emergency Alert System test set for 2:20 p.m. ET on Nov. 17, with Dec. 3 as backup; it hits broadcasts only, not phones, and it’s the check federal law requires every few years. What’s different is everything around it. Britain launched a campaign on Oct. 22 telling 68 million people to keep three days of water, no-cook food and cash at home, with its defence secretary naming cyberattacks and state-sponsored threats; Germany is advising ten days; the EU has its 72-hour kit; and Washington has told the Gulf to brace for Iranian retaliation on energy and infrastructure after the midterms. 🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: Fire at the Savannah River nuclear lab triggered an "unfiltered ground-level radiological release" and a shelter-in-place order The emergency dispatch says the fire was contained to one room at Savannah River National Laboratory, inside the Energy Department's 310-square-mile weapons complex in South Carolina, and that radioactive material escaped at ground level without passing through the building's filters. Workers in Area A were held behind barricades for about half an hour after 5 p.m., then let out while nobody else was allowed in, and both the dispatch and the site's statement say there's no sign of anything reaching beyond the fence. No cause has been given. Savannah River is where America's tritium for nuclear warheads gets handled and where excess plutonium and decades of weapons waste are processed, so "one room" at this site means something different than it would anywhere else. The site runs a radiological-release drill every year, which is why the shelter order came fast, but the questions now belong to the Energy Department: what burned, what got out, how much, and whether the monitors at the boundary agree with the press release. 🚨 BREAKING: A dangerous new security flaw has been discovered in Google Chrome, potentially allowing hackers to execute malicious code simply by getting you to visit a compromised webpage. And it targets the engine powering Chrome itself. CVE-2026-118320 is a high-severity memory corruption vulnerability in V8, Google’s JavaScript engine. Here’s what you need to know: → Attackers can potentially execute arbitrary code through specially crafted HTML pages. → No malicious downloads or browser extensions are required. → The vulnerability affects Chrome versions prior to 156.0.8078.73. → Successful exploitation could allow attackers to execute code inside Chrome’s security sandbox. → Google has released a security update addressing the vulnerability. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: There is currently no confirmed evidence of active exploitation. However, the potential for remote code execution makes this a serious security issue. What should you do? Update Chrome immediately and restart your browser to apply the patch. Another critical reminder that even the world’s most widely used browsers are vulnerable to serious security flaws. 🔒 Need to know whether your systems are exposed to emerging threats? ‼️ Critical UEFI Firmware Flaw Could Expose Millions of Servers to Pre-Boot Code Execution Details: cybersecuritynews.com/uefi-f… A critical bug in open-source EDK II firmware lets a remote attacker run code on a machine before the operating system starts. The flaw is tracked as CVE-2026-97631. It sits in the network boot (PXE) driver and received a CVSS v4 score of 9.5. The advisory lists the NetworkPkg package in EDK II master as of September 14, 2026. EDK II is the reference code that many firmware makers use to build UEFI firmware, so the bug can reach servers, desktops, and laptops that boot over a network. The advisory page still says “Not patched currently,” yet a fix has already been merged into the public code. Vendors must now ship that fix in their own firmware updates, which usually takes much longer. #cybersecuritynews

Inflation rose to 3.7% in September, but that doesn't mean your expenses rose 3.7%. A renter facing higher housing and childcare costs may experience far more inflation than a homeowner with a fixed mortgage. The national average doesn't pay your bills. schiffgold.com/commentaries/…

🇷🇺Russia just fired a nuclear-capable ICBM from beneath the sea: The Borei-A submarine Generalissimo Suvorov launched a Bulava missile from a submerged position in the Sea of Okhotsk. Russia's Defence Ministry says the warheads hit their target in Arkhangelsk. Each Borei-class submarine carries 16 Bulava missiles. It comes a day after reports that three of Britain's four Trident submarines were at sea at the same time. Signal, or routine?

This morning, I took an Uber. The radio was discussing today's Bank of Canada interest rate announcement. I told the driver I think they'll raise rates by 25 basis points. His response caught me off guard. “Has this country gone mad? Are they trying to put everyone on the streets? There's no demand out there. People are struggling.” Then he told me something I'll never forget. The other day, he came across a homeless man and gave him his lunch. He said, “At least I can work and make some money. I can buy myself another lunch later. That man has no money, no food, nothing.” That conversation stayed with me. When an Uber driver understands the human cost of this economy better than the people making the decisions, you have to wonder how disconnected we've become. This is where Canada is today.
