All of us at Marvel Studios are deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. Sir Patrick brought Professor Charles Xavier to life with extraordinary grace, intelligence, and humanity, defining the character for generations of fans, from "X-Men" to "Logan" to "Avengers: Doomsday." He was a singular talent, a generous collaborator, and a true gentleman. Our hearts go out to his wife Sunny, his children, his friends, and the countless fans around the world whose lives he touched with his art.

Kevin Feige reportedly revealed this about the upcoming Marvel Studios X-Men reboot: ​“We had a heated internal debate about who gets to front the franchise, and despite massive pressure to lean entirely on Wolverine again, I put my foot down. Cyclops is finally going to be the absolute anchor and primary leader of the team. For years he was sidelined, but we’re giving him the tactical weight, the gritty moral dilemmas, and the spotlight he actually deserves to carry the MCU into its next era.”
