Tyriq Withers Updates

Tyriq Withers shares how he got the lead role in Jordan Peele’s 'Him': “When I was auditioning for the movie, Him, I was in Serbia, shooting a movie, so I had to do everything over Zoom. I did a series of auditions. I filmed a highlight tape of me working out and throwing a football — and trust me, it is hard as hell to get an American football in Europe. They had one final call and they were like, “We want you to do some improv. We just want to see if you have the chops.” [Director] Justin Tipping is on the call and the producers, and then they’re like, “Hi, this is Jordan Peele. We don’t know if you know him.” I’m like, “Do I know Jordan Peele?” Then I go into an improv with the director, and in the middle of the improv, he’s like, “You got the part.” I’m like, “What? What are you talking about?” I remember I came out of the improv, and I started jumping around.”
