Last I’m going to say this believe what you want to believe but the US is not going to fly an unknown UAS or any known UAS (besides tactical drones like the Raven and Black Hornet ) at a low level over one of the most populated places in the world to “Pen Test” it’s not going to happen. It is a safety issue and is not very good operational security. Testing is done in remote areas (like Area 51) where if something happens the danger to the public is minimal. And anyone that’s ever been on one of these UAS programs will tell you shit happens all the time. Flying at 1k to 5k ft only gives you a few seconds to correct before your millions of dollar airframe is taking a dirtnap. Like everything with the government Murphy’s Law wins everytime so you try and do what you can to mitigate catastrophic consequences. Another reason a lot of new stealth RAM (radar absorbent Materials) design are that off-white color because it makes the plane almost Invisible to the naked eye at an intermediate altitude. The US government spends Billions of dollars not to be seen when doing ISR. This is the holy grail to any military flying at a low level above a metropolitan area is not realistic when it comes to intelligence collection.

Sad to see my last “Fun” car (Mercedes E350) go it’s bittersweet but I inherited a newer car so I can save for the Model Y I want.

Exactly.
Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls. That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching. I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee. Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

This just about sums up my feeling on the matter…. Only in a much more clear and concise way than if I had said them.
I’ve watched the video and heard the audio from the Learjet crash in Florida. It is absolutely horrific. And already, people are making jokes and calling the female pilot a “DEI hire.” You know nothing about her qualifications or what happened aboard that aircraft. Have some decency. Families are facing unimaginable grief tonight. People have lost loved ones, and their lives will never be the same. This is a tragedy, not entertainment, not a political talking point, and certainly not an opportunity to mock the dead. Show some damn humanity.

STOP SAYING THIS! it makes you look stupid and uneducated so let me explain. The avenger has a maximum lateral range of around 5 miles and a flight altitude of 11 kilofeet (lol fuck you europe) the aircraft experienced its initial descent over 25 KF. Above the flight ceiling and outside the engagement range of the avenger system. Furthermore, even if it could hit the aircraft the pilot 1000000% would know if they had been engaged and notified ATC. Also, engaging any aircraft (not ballistic missiles) requires about 10+ checks before weapons release. Including but not limited to iff interrogation, call to ATC to verify aircraft, clearance from ADAFCO, and confirmation that the Air Force cannot intercept. As for the “electronic engagement” theory that system nor any other one in the US arsenal can disable an aircraft in flight like that. The very best we could do is jam its GPS and TVM (track via missile) spoof. Worst conspiracy theory ever….. it’s always the loudest who voice only their ignorance.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Alexandra Dudgeon has stated she was not involved in the crash. The crew reported icing, turbulence and overspeed to air traffic control before the rapid descent. Missile systems were deployed near Mar-a-Lago for air defense in October. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/who-w… flightradar24.com/blog/flight-tr… twz.com/land/avenger-a… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Palm…

I don’t want to toot my own horn but do you appreciate the amount of patience it takes to get a shot like this with only one person in it?

👻This Halloween, the scariest things in space aren't ghosts. They're the threats that could put our capabilities at risk: space debris, counterspace threats, disrupted comms & navigation. At SSC, staying vigilant isn't just a Halloween tradition, it's mission essential.🎃🛰️
