I wish Ireland could do better and support those with disabilities to access employment. The positive economic, social, health and wellbeing effects would be beneficial for society as a whole.

Three of the issues with this campaign, in a nutshell:
1. We don't need another "awareness campaign" to highlight the barriers faced by wheelchair users. We need:
- Funding
- Comprehensive policies
- Meaningful participation of disabled people in planning (also funded)
Today I am supporting the great work of @SpinalIreland and raising awareness by spending time using a wheelchair. Unfortunately, our buildings and streets are still not fully accessible for wheelchair users. We all need to be more conscious of this and put it right #MyDayInWheels

The €1m award from the @hea_irl recognises the impact of the university’s innovative work in the field of inclusive education.
