Silence is a choice. Does Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi denounce federal NDP leader Avi Lewis’s attack on the Pacific Link pipeline, or does he support it? Albertans deserve to know. 🔗 unitedconservativecaucus.ca/…

Irv Kipnes helped to build Edmonton itself, first its neighbourhoods and businesses, then its hospitals, its theatres and its concert halls. He and his family gave on a scale this province has rarely seen. Cancer research. Heart care. The Kipnes Centre for Veterans. Edmonton's symphony, opera and ballet. The Jewish community he loved and supported all his life. There is hardly a corner of Edmonton that has not been touched by their generosity. Our condolences to the Kipnes family and to everyone who loved him. Alberta is better because Irv Kipnes called it home.

Had the pleasure of joining the Alberta College of Family Physicians at The Ridge Medical Centre in Medicine Hat for the presentation of the 2026 Patient’s Medical Home Outstanding Family Practice Award. Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Mohanraj and the entire Ridge team on this well-deserved recognition. Their commitment to accessible, team-based care, from early morning appointments to strong community ties and a culture of continuous improvement, is exactly what the Patient’s Medical Home model is all about. Thank you to Georgina Altman and the ACFP for the invitation and for recognizing the work happening right here in our community. Family doctors are the foundation of our health care system, and it was an honor to celebrate them. Congratulations again to everyone at The Ridge!

Congratulations to Westwinds Communities and the Town of Okotoks on the opening of Kennedy Terrace at D’Arcy! With $850,000 in support from Alberta’s Affordable Housing Partnership Program, this 10-home development will provide safe, attainable housing for individuals and families. A fitting tribute to local community leader Sandi Kennedy!

I would like to extend my gratitude to Albertans for taking time to vote in the referendum. I am pleased to receive a mandate to increase provincial control over immigration, while also taking steps to reestablish balanced levels that strengthen our province. As I have said all along, Alberta needs immigration, but it must be done sustainably and in line with our economic demand. This has not been the case for several years, and it is exactly why Albertans voted in favour of questions one through five.   Immigration must be done with purpose – economic migrants who bring the skills and expertise who keep our economy growing.   Naheed Nenshi spent months campaigning against these questions, but Albertans were not fooled. Alberta remains proud to welcome newcomers and share the incredible things our province has to offer. But what we’ve faced is unsustainable, and it has had a real impact in several areas such as health care, education, housing, and even on youth finding their first job. This cannot be ignored.   I believe Albertans made the right choice and as Alberta’s Minister of Immigration, I will work with federal counterparts and provincial colleagues to implement the direction we’ve received.

Today I spoke directly to Albertans following yesterday’s referendum vote. Alberta will remain in Canada, and for as long as I serve as premier, there will not be another referendum on the issue of separation. I’m also pleased that Albertans also gave our government a mandate to take greater control over immigration, to ensure temporary residents pay their share of the services they use and to require proof of citizenship to vote. Those reforms are coming, and they will strengthen Alberta’s autonomy. Now is the time to move forward not as a people divided by how we voted yesterday, but as neighbours, friends, Albertans and Canadians. Together, we will keep Alberta and Canada forever strong and free.

Great news for Warburg and our region! Through the Active Communities Initiative, the Warburg Hockey & Skating Arena Club is receiving more than $700,000 to replace its arena slab and refrigeration system, helping ensure reliable ice for local athletes, families, and community members for years to come. Investments like these strengthen rural recreation facilities and help keep Albertans active and connected.

Today you have a ballot in front of you. “Yes to the Nine” means Alberta gets a real say over our own immigration, so growth matches the housing, schools and hospitals we have to support it. It means temporary programs contribute to the services they use. It means constitutional reforms that protect this province's authority no matter who sits in Ottawa. Vote today. ✅ Vote for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada. ✅ Vote yes to the nine.

On the ground at the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre this afternoon with Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Safety Mike Ellis, Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services Adriana LaGrange and federal Minister of National Defence David McGuinty and Acute Care Alberta interim CEO Dr. Sayeh Zielke. We have just provided an update on the fire at CFB Wainwright. Four members of the Canadian Armed Forces have lost their lives in service to our country. Many more are injured and in recovery across our hospitals. Every part of the response is being coordinated, from first responders through to the hospitals treating the injured and the critical care teams working right now. Alberta stands with our Canadian Armed Forces and will provide whatever support is requested. To those recovering and to the families grieving today, all of Alberta is with you.

Alberta is mourning alongside the Canadian Armed Forces and the families, friends and colleagues of those affected by the tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright yesterday. The loss of life and injuries are heartbreaking. On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and wish those who have been injured a full recovery. Our thoughts are also with the military personnel, families and colleagues facing uncertainty and grief during this incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful to the first responders, paramedics, physicians, nurses and hospital teams across Alberta who have mobilized to provide care to those injured. Albertans should all be incredibly proud of their frontline health care workers and our acute care system that has managed this mass casualty event. We’re also thankful to our neighbours in Saskatchewan who did not hesitate to support our response with additional air ambulance capacity, and to other provinces who have reached out offering their support and condolences. I will be traveling to Edmonton today to meet with provincial ministers and federal officials. The Government of Alberta continues to work closely with the federal government and local authorities. We have convened our Emergency Management Cabinet Coordination Committee and the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre (PECC) has been activated to a level 3. As a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives and in solidarity with the military community and their families, flags at provincial government buildings across Alberta will be lowered to half-mast. In the days ahead, our thoughts will remain with everyone affected by this tragedy. Alberta stands with the Canadian Armed Forces, the people of Wainwright and all those grieving during this difficult time.
