On April 4th, 2024 UGSDW membership voted 162-1 to ratify the first wall-to-wall undergraduate labor union contract in US history.
Solidarity Forever!
This contract represents years of organizing and multiple legal battles at the NLRB. The effort to get this contract began in 2017!
4. CAs have the choice between a room grant or equivalent stipend
5. The ability to bargain over the effects of workplace changes, job eliminations, etc.
The contract is a historic win for the Union. Highlights include:
1. A base wage of $13.50 an hour (a $5.25 increase from when bargaining began)
2. Just Cause for all student workers
3. A grievance procedure for all students (with a third party arbitrator)
After almost 1.5 years of bargaining, we have come to a tentative agreement on a contract with the College! This contract would be the first wall-to-wall undergraduate contract in US history if passed!
This represents countless hours of negotiations that resulted in a contract that will meet the needs of all student workers. All Union members were sent an email with the full contract and voting information on the contract!

ALT Text saying "Voting on ratification will be sent via email. We will have union office hours every day the 1st week back from break. If the contract is ratified by majority vote, it will be the first wall-to-wall undergraduate labor union contract in US history. The contract will be effective immediately after being signed. DM or email us with any questions."
Our bargaining team supports a "yes" vote on this contract!
Contract highlights:
Base wage: $13.50 for everyone
CAs: choice between room grant or equivalent stipend
Just Cause for All
Grievance Procedure for all

⚠️ILLEGAL UNION BUSTING⚠️
For months, we've bargained in good faith while Grinnell refused to agree to a living wage or protections against discrimination and harassment. Today, admin told us that they refuse to bargain until we end our strike - a clear violation of labor law.

WE WILL NOT CAVE TO THEIR ILLEGAL TACTICS. We are still on strike and will stay on strike until they return to the bargaining table and meet our demands.
