Today, we are attending the launch of the Commission on the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy report alongside our PCPB partners, policymakers, and other leading voices in the field. (1/3)
We are encouraged to see recommendations on statutory regulation and strengthened professional standards.
This supports our own work on regulation, where we have set out principles for what effective statutory regulation must achieve: ow.ly/ptXu51031t0 (2/3)
Everyone seeking mental health support deserves a system that is safe and easy to navigate. We look forward to working with PCPB, government and policymakers to take the recommendations forward.

Thank you to everyone who joined our online event ‘Forging inclusive cultures in training and supervision’ last week.
Speakers shared practical ways to make training and supervision more inclusive.
It’s part of our EDI-BIIDE action plan: ow.ly/zM2w51011ra
Yesterday, Chancellor John Healey delivered his first Autumn Budget.
We welcome measures to ease cost-of-living pressures. Financial insecurity and poor mental health often reinforce each other. (1/4)
The budget committed no funding in response to the incoming Milburn or Timms reviews.
Recognition is not enough. Investment is needed to make a difference for people living with mental health conditions who need support. (3/4)
We’ll continue to advocate for a compassionate welfare system and full use of the psychotherapy workforce, so everyone seeking NHS support receives timely, person-centred care. (4/4)

Thank you to everyone who attended.

This autumn we attended five party conferences – @Conservatives, @TheGreenParty, @UKLabour, @LibDems and @reformparty_uk – to understand what each party is proposing for mental health policy and to advocate for psychotherapy.
Attendance is not an endorsement of any party. 1/3
Mental health was raised at every conference. From plans to cut the welfare bill to pledges to end long waits for young people’s mental health support and the return of Sure Start services. We heard a wide range of commitments and proposals. 2/3
Across every conference we made the case for reduced waiting times, NHS psychotherapy access and a compassionate welfare system.
We will challenge any proposal, from any party, that would reduce support for people with mental health conditions.
