Haitians deserve more than praise for enduring conditions no population should have to accept. Resilience is a testament to the people—not a substitute for security, justice or accountable leadership.
If the Security Council sustains its support, what concrete commitments will protect communities from reprisals, disrupt weapons trafficking and strengthen Haitian institutions? What deadlines and public benchmarks will measure progress?
The UN and Haiti’s authorities must answer those questions together. The goal should be a country where people can live safely and shape their own future, without being repeatedly congratulated for surviving.
