نحتفل هذا العام بـ #يوم_الأمم_المتحدة مع 50 شاباً وشابة من ليبيا، يستكشفون هذا السؤال مع انطلاق نموذج الأمم المتحدة في ليبيا 2026 اليوم.
وعلى مدى الأيام الثلاثة المقبلة، سيمثل المشاركون دولاً مختلفة ضمن محاكاة لعدد من لجان الأمم المتحدة، حيث سيناقشون قضايا تتعلق بالسلم، والتنمية المستدامة، ومستقبل الأمم المتحدة. وسيطرحون مقترحات، ويتفاوضون مع زملائهم المندوبين، ويعملون على التوصل إلى اتفاقات تراعي اختلاف الأولويات والمواقف.
إنها فرصة لفهم كيفية عمل الأمم المتحدة، وممارسة مهارات الاستماع والحوار والتوافق التي تساعد الدول على إيجاد حلول مشتركة.

What does it take for countries with different priorities to find common ground?
This year we are celebrating #UNDay with 50 young Libyans who are exploring that question as Model United Nations Libya 2026 opens today.
Over the next three days, participants will represent different countries in simulated UN committees, debating issues of peace, sustainable development and the future of the UN. They will put forward proposals, negotiate with fellow delegates and work towards agreements that reflect different priorities.
It’s an opportunity to understand how the UN works and practise the listening, dialogue and compromise that help countries find solutions together.
Organized by the United Nations in Libya in partnership with the Dialogue & Debate Association.
UNDP Libya Resident Representative Dr @SophieKemkhadze joined the @UN interagency mission to Kufra, to discuss the municipality’s development priorities, growing pressures on essential services, and opportunities to strengthen local resilience and livelihoods.
On Sunday, DSRSG/RC @UlrikaR_UN , accompanied by representatives of @UNDPLibya , @UnicefLibya , @UNSMILibya and @WHOLIBYA , visited Al Kufra to engage with local authorities on how to better respond to the pressing development challenges facing southeastern Libya, compounded by the humanitarian consequences of the conflict in Sudan.
In meetings with the Mayors of Al Kufra and Al Juf Al Gharbi and municipal authorities, discussions focused on persistent gaps in healthcare, education, water and electricity services, and the additional pressures arising from the arrival of Sudanese families fleeing the war.
Richardson commended the solidarity of local communities, while recognizing that their longstanding development needs deserve greater attention and sustained investment. The newly created UN-convened Municipal Coordination Group aims to better align international assistance with priorities identified by local authorities.
UNDP has been a longstanding development partner of Kufra, having supported 18 projects focused on municipal infrastructure and basic services. Building on this partnership, we are preparing 3🆕 projects, with funding from the @MofaJapan_en, based on the local peacebuilding plan.
The mission also visited Attia Al-Kaseh General Hospital, rehabilitated with @UNDP support in 2019, to discuss current healthcare needs and challenges. The hospital is currently supported by the WHO, which ensures quality services to the local communities.

It was a pleasure to meet with H.E. Minister of Water Resources, Eng. Husni Awaidan, and his team, building on his recent discussions with @UNDPArabStates Director Dr. @AbdallahAldard1 in New York. The adoption of Libya’s National Water Security Strategy earlier this year was an important milestone, and @UNDPLibya is proud to have supported its development with the support of the @ItalyinLibya.
Our discussions focused on the next important step – translating the Strategy into concrete programmes and investments that strengthen water security, climate resilience and sustainable development across Libya.
