Securing the southern border and stopping narcoterrorists from trafficking drugs into the United States requires strong cooperation with allies like Guatemala. I was proud to represent New Mexico (@USAO_NM) in Guatemala City last week alongside @USAttorneys and @TheJusticeDept colleagues. The best is yet to come in our fight against transnational criminal organizations! 🇺🇸👊🏼🇬🇹 Pictured below: meetings with the President, Attorney General, and Interior Minister of Guatemala, along with other @TheJusticeDept and @usembassyguate officials.

⬇️ Below is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when local and federal law enforcement works together. My message to every law enforcement agency and prosecutor across New Mexico is clear: the U.S. Attorney’s Office is open for business. Through partnership and cooperation, we can get violent criminals off New Mexico’s streets. 👊🏼🇺🇸 @FBIAlbuquerque @LasCrucesPolice
LCPD, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico and @FBIAlbuquerque are sharing news of a recent collaboration.

I was up and at ‘em early this morning to join FBI, HSI, and local partners to execute search warrants related to narcotics trafficking and firearms violations near Anthony, New Mexico. The government may close, but the crime fighting will continue uninterrupted. 👊🏼🇺🇸
Today, Acting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison joined @FBIAlbuquerque, @FBIElPaso, @HSIElPaso, the Metro Narcotics Task Force, @LasCrucesPolice, and @DonaAnaCountySO to execute federal and state search warrants in Anthony, New Mexico related to narcotics trafficking and firearms violations. 🤝 Strong partnerships between our federal, state, and local agencies are keeping our communities safe, and crushing violent crime!

I brought federal law enforcement leadership with me to Española last week to meet with local and tribal officials about the violent crime and overdose problems plaguing Rio Arriba County. While our discussion was productive, it must be followed up with very strong ACTION. I look forward to working with our local and tribal partners to make that happen. You can read more about the specifics of our discussion at the link below. More to come! 👊🏼🇺🇸
Last week, @USAttyEllison convened federal, tribal and local law enforcement leaders in Española to address violent crime and drug trafficking. Together, these partners are building a coordinated strategy to strengthen public safety in Rio Arriba County and beyond. Learn more here: justice.gov/usao-nm/pr/actin…

Happy Labor Day to the hard-working men and women of New Mexico! As a product of the middle class, there’s nothing I respect more than the grit of our law enforcement officers, teachers, nurses, farmers, service workers, and tradesmen. On Labor Day, I salute those working long shifts to keep our state moving and to make ends meet—and I double down on my commitment to make our state a safer place to live and work. You deserve for your hard work to be matched by those charged with keeping you safe, and I’m working hard to ensure that the U.S. Attorney’s Office meets that mission. 👊🏼🇺🇸
Happy Labor Day! Thank you to all who strengthen our communities through your hard work and service.

In the interest of transparency, our office publishes a weekly report detailing the most common immigration and border-related offenses every Friday afternoon. You can review this week’s report (and search for prior weekly reports) at the link below. Numbers of charges have dropped and stabilized over the last couple of months after peaking in May and early June. This is a GOOD thing! We prosecute very close to 100% of illegal border crossers so this drop indicates fewer people crossing our Southern Border as it becomes more secure. The hard work continues, but there is much to be proud of in the progress that we have made over the last 4 months!   I hope you all have a GREAT Labor Day Weekend! 👊🏼🇺🇸 justice.gov/usao-nm/pr/us-at…

Public safety should not belong to the wealthy. ALL New Mexicans deserve to feel safe regardless of whether you live in metro Albuquerque or a rural tribal community. Our office is taking a “back to basics” approach to crime fighting across the state—targeting felons with guns, drug traffickers, and violent offenders.   Meaningful progress will take sustained effort over time, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office is putting in the work! 👊🏼🇺🇸 #ProtectCitizens #ProsecuteCriminals #DefendNewMexico

Our fellow New Mexicans living in tribal communities deserve enhanced public safety in the same way the rest of our state does. Our Indian Country Crimes prosecutors are working hard to achieve justice for victims of violent crimes.
