Gen Z will never understand how weird and fun the internet used to be. We had personal websites, obscure forums, experimental pages, and bizarre corners of the web. Then Google, Amazon, and Meta turned it into an algorithmic shopping mall packed with ads and commerce.

Guys please fight for the life you want. Drag yourself out of the pits of self-doubt, self sabotage and whatever the devil is whispering in your ear. We are not here for long, empty yourself up. ♥️🌸

Stop assuming people are mad at you. Stop attempting to read people's minds. Stop trying to manage the thoughts and emotions of others. Let people be in charge of themselves. If they have something to say to you, they will; and if they don't, it is their responsibility, not yours. Overthinking kills happiness.

gay men need to stop trying to mimic pop girls and actually be creative and innovate with sound and aesthetic as well as improve their writing. i’d stream a gay boy album in a heartbeat but not the shit i keep hearing these days.

If you have an intense soul, you need to pour that intensity into your hobbies/art. That energy needs to go somewhere or it'll swallow you. Your depth must have a purpose. Create your own worlds, that you and other like minded people can escape into. You have a super power.

Tolerating always turns to resentment. At first, you call it patience, then love. But what it really is, is self abandonment. Every time you swallow a boundary, excuse a pattern or silence your discomfort, something inside you keeps score. Likes And eventually, the bill comes due.
What's the hardest lesson you've learned?

Britney was right though. At least with millennial artists they knew how to draw inspiration and make sh*t their own. These artists now just do recreations and homages. Be original!

Tate to me is like a parody of what people THINK a pop star looks & sounds like. I could see her convincingly playing a fictional version of one in a movie or a tv series, but in real life her music exists in like some weird vacuum. Like she exists solely as a concept.
Tate McRae has released her new single ‘Housewife.’

This is what happens when we are the face of our music but not the owners of it. We become replaceable. The Big 3 labels are UMG, SONY, and Warner generate roughly $33–35+ billion dollars a year. The top 3 genre a music that generate the most money is: 1. Hip-Hop / R&B- Often accounts for ~25%+ of U.S. streams 2. Pop — Consistently top-tier 3. Rock (including classic rock/catalog) All create by Black American. Why isn’t there a Black version of the BIG 3 where we dictate who gets fired and who doesn’t?
The black executive in music is getting removed and replace systematically. Black women are the first to go in these industry lay offs. Which is the biggest mistake. Black women is where everything dope in the culture comes from. They are the culture. Smh

These companies have had mass layoffs in entire radio departments. So a lot of these artists have no one to promote their records. You might not give a fuck, but radio pays FAR MORE than streaming. Entire marketing divisions have been gutted. So when you guys complain about “promotion and marketing” or lack there of… this is why. There hasn’t been a black music department at a major label in over a decade. So black executives are often not in charge of black ass artists and their projects Money has been pulled OUT of black music and diverted to other genres. When you guys complain and try to shit on artists about their lack of visibility and slow Sales, always remember that there were departments that made that possible. Street teams, public relations, designers, creative directors, radio consultants, a&r’s, college reps, and interns that died on the vine before you could ever get to know who they were. They’re all jobless now, and have been replaced with AI and people who know nothing about music but think you’re dumb enough to buy a record from someone just bc they have a lot of IG followers But no… no they didn’t do anything at all 🤷🏾‍♂️
Where they doing anything anyway?

When you create the culture but don’t protect it, this is the result. It’s also what happens when Black people in those rooms prioritize proximity to whiteness over making sure other Black people have opportunities behind them. Once the culture has been extracted, you’re no longer needed. This is why unity mattered. Hip-hop sales have declined by 40%. If it’s no longer profitable for them, what makes you think they’ll still value the Black executives who helped build it? A lot of y’all failed the assignment by trading the bigger picture for your own self-interest.
