One interesting thing to note: With proposed/expected salary cap changes coming in the future (hopefully next summer)... depending on contract for Mark McKenzie and Kai Wagner... it's possible the Union will still have a ton of flexibility
Plus with so many homegrowns, team will have plenty of salary cap space for key additions if/when necessary. Whether that means McKenzie and Wagner remain DPs or not... new rules should be beneficial for this team in particular
đŁđșđž BREAKING: The Philadelphia Union are finalizing a deal to sign USMNT center back Mark McKenzie from FC Toulouse in January, per sources.
- Fee around $2.5m. McKenzie will be a DP
- Toulouse made clear no summer departure, so move for January agreed

The Goal 13 Foundation, the non-profit organization created by the family of the late Holden Trent, has announced its first annual golf tournament.
This fundraiser will not only aim to raise funds for the Foundationâs core missionâproviding support and programming to help student-athletes become leaders in sports and in lifeâbut also celebrate the exceptional programming and dedicated volunteers at the heart of the organizationâs work.
The tournament will take place on October 10 at Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, North Carolina, and will follow a four-person scramble format.

Looks like the Union are off FIFAâs registration ban list.
As theyâre in Marbella and itâs after midnight there (and at FIFA headquarters in Zurich), I canât get a comment from them at this hour.
But I just checked FIFAâs site (knowledge.fifa.com/registratâŠ) and they are not there.

Bradley Carnell on the FIFA registration ban:
"I believe it's a small issue. You know, Ernst and I have caught up about itânot in great lengthâbut yeah, it's a minor issue. It's pretty close to being resolved from what I'm hearing and won't impact us going forward over the next couple of weeks."
As of the writing of this post, Philadelphia remains on the list.

The Philadelphia Union are currently listed on FIFA's Registration Ban list.
According to FIFA, "This list includes clubs temporarily prohibited from registering new players due to various infractions, such as financial disputes or regulatory breaches. Serving as an essential tool for Member Associations, confederations, clubs, players, and agents, the FIFA Registration Ban List helps ensure transparency and compliance within the sport, allowing stakeholders to stay informed about which clubs are ineligible to sign new players during the ban period."
The Union have been banned from registering players since December 4, 2024, with the ban set to last for three registration periods.
Notably, the Union are the only American club currently on the list.
For context, in January 2024, the LA Galaxy faced a similar ban due to a $4,500 training compensation dispute, which was lifted once resolved.
The Philadelphia Union did not immediately respond to my request for comment.
