For California’s public-sector unions, higher taxes are good business. More taxes means more state workers, which means more union members, more dues, and more power for union bosses. The union bosses, in turn, keep the dollars flowing, agitating for more tax hikes, more spending, and more state workers. city-journal.org/article/cal…

Shawn Fain has now become the fourth UAW President to be investigated by the Department of Justice in the past decade. The DOJ has launched a grand jury investigation into the allegations that Shawn Fain used his powers as UAW President to benefit his fiance and her sister. Of the past five UAW Presidents, the only one not to be investigated by the DOJ is Ray Curry. Ironically, during the 2023 UAW election, Fain’s team suggested that Curry was tied to the UAW’s corruption scandal. This investigation is related to allegations brought against Fain by UAW Vice President Rich Boyer, who alleges that he was retaliated against for refusing to comply with Fain’s demands. These allegations helped start a separate investigation by the UAW Monitor, who recently found that Fain did indeed behave improperly by seeking benefits for his fiance and her sister. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

At HTC, pay gaps don’t just exist between President Rich Maroko and his members. There are also significant reported wage disparities among workers themselves.

HTC’s president may get the credit for the latest contract, but his nearly $1M comp package is largely insulated from these economic setbacks. World Cup visitors may be the first to feel the pain of higher room rates, but hotel workers could end up being hit the hardest by seeing their shifts reduced, or worse — having their jobs disappear. washingtonexaminer.com/op-ed…
