Today is International Women and Girls in Science Day and we are celebrating the women of SCMH! Our lovely staff and students have answered three questions on their career and what they would take to a desert island! #TeamUofG #InternationalWomenAndGirlsInScienceDay
Today we were delighted to welcome supporters from BHF Scotland for a tour of our labs. The visit was led by our BHF‑funded researchers and PhD students, who guided guests through the laboratories and the imaging suite before rounding off the visit with an engaging discussion.

Today on World Stroke Day. Professor Terry Quinn discusses his teams research.
When people think of stroke, they often think of a person with a weakness in their limbs, a drooping in the face, or a speech problem.
The team are especially interested in the memory and thinking problems that accompany stroke, and their research seeks to bring together the worlds of stroke and dementia research.
Today is World Stroke Day and Professor Lorraine Work
🧠💥 Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability—but treatment options are limited.
Our research group is working to change that.
We’re developing faster ways to detect stroke type and uncover hidden health issues. For those who can’t get clot-busting drugs or surgery, we’re exploring new treatments that both reduce brain injury and boost recovery.
✨ From repurposing existing medicines to using tiny particles that deliver healing signals—we’re pushing boundaries to improve stroke care.
