She actually laughed, looking at him in disbelief. “See? And somehow I’m the boring one. I mean, I hardly see that as a problem. If anything, you seem to be the problem.”

She spread her arms wide and made a gesture of surrender. “All right. You want us to ‘fight’? Well, let’s have a ‘fight’. I promise you I’m certainly up for it. Unless you’re still on your best behaviour or busy – whatever you want to call it.”

“Maybe that’s it. But I don’t know – what can I know? I mean, I'm too old. I'm already starting to have memory lapses.”

She lets out a playful laugh, scrunching her nose. “Oh, really? Doesn't ring a bell. You must be confusing me with someone else, because I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.”

She lets out a soft, scoffing laugh, shaking her head as her eyes lock onto his with absolute confidence. “Bold of you to assume I could ever be tamed.”

She arches a single brow, her eyes glinting with amusement as she holds his gaze. “Since you started being on your 'best behavior.'”

She steps into his personal space, closing the distance between them as she lets out a low chuckle. “Not bored. Just under-stimulated. Care to fix that?”

“That’s because you’ve been on your best behaviour lately.”

She shakes her head and bites her lip to suppress a smile. “Don’t make me get all sentimental.”

“Oh Marcel, you know us girls complete suckers for sweet talk. Especially hopeless romantics like me.”

“You could have just said you missed me.”

“No, you can come whenever you like. It’s just that your expression seemed a little too serious for a casual visit.”

“Good to know.” She was relieved to know he was none the wiser. “So, why are you here?”

She studied him carefully, as though trying to figure out what was going through his mind, not entirely sure how she ought to respond. “I don’t know. Maybe? I suppose it depends on how you see it.”
