Replying to @charlesmurray
But how are Trump's tariffs about fairness when the calculation is (US trade deficit / imports from that country / 2)? It's one thing to match the actual tariffs other countries put on the US, but that's not the case. The “reciprocal” tariffs target US trade deficits. Saying that this response is about fairness assumes that any trade deficit is caused by systemic unfairness (what is this, critical trade theory?)

Aside from the horrid self-interest, this is also completely wrong. Planning jobs are directly correlated to new development. More new development - more planning jobs, even if we lift the regulatory burden that limits development.

abundance agenda urban planners have no capacity to understand that the profession cannot exist if development is deregulated. we literally maintain regulations, that’s what planning is. this is not the best era to advocate for your own unemployment.

Preliminary analysis of the crash of flight 5342 today suggests a possible factor might have been the helicopter pilot accidentally looking at AAL3130, a larger plane landing behind 5342, on a different approach but visually close and possibly brighter than the closer, smaller 5342.
