The Supreme Court has decided in Agbai v. Okogbue (1991) 7 NWLR (Pt. 204) 391 that “nobody can be compelled to associate with other persons against his will".

UPDATE:
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, has taken decisive steps in response to the incident, reaffirming the Command’s unwavering commitment to accountability and its zero tolerance for misconduct. No uniform is a licence to intimidate, harass, or violate the rights of any citizen. The uniform is a symbol of service, trust, and responsibility, and anyone who abuses that trust must be prepared to face the consequences.
We understand the anger and concern such incidents generate, and we assure the public that no officer will be shielded from accountability if found culpable. The dignity of every citizen matters, and we remain committed to protecting the rights of the people we are sworn to serve.

She came to the office yesterday and during her long prayers, she said “e ni ri ogun ejo o”.
