I'm so excited. :)
Did you know that you can play in all 4 drafts over the 2 days of the event for the same price as a Universes Beyond prerelease?? And that isn't even mentioning the secret plans we have cooking up for our best in the Midwest cube event! #mtgcube

I'm excited to present this at our event. :)
Trying to build your first #mtgcube got you down? Well @usmantherad is here to help! During the #STL^3 Top 8 draft, Usman will be hosting "Cube Building for Dummies" and give you the tips and tricks you need to build the cube of your dreams!

I'm back to report that there's going to be a cube event going on in STL in late October. We're working to make this a great cube event, with an hour lunch, a panel about cube design, a raffle and other neat stuff. Check it out. :) #mtgcube
We're so excited to see how it goes, with the hour for lunch, the #mtgcube s we have to offer drafters to draft and seeing cube drafters and designers from all over. Big Mac the Cat will not be there, but would probably draft too. (also, Heirloom Blade for life.) @UsmanTheRad

About a year ago, I created a substack to host my #mtgcube writing. I'd like to reach 250 subs but that's mostly just to see number go up. :) Nothing's paywalled. I've got some articles in the tank going, including one to celebrate 15 years of writing. usmantherad.substack.com

Also I mostly just post on the bird site, same handle there, if you want to see more cube thoughts there since I've mostly abandoned this place.

On my S*bstack, I've written a lot over the years about context can change how a card can perform in different environments. It's about how in a cube, a card's role can change over time, and how time doesn't necessarily make cards worse over time. Check my bio for the link.

Fuckin a. :) the old blog had nowhere close to this amount of readers. IRL stuff has been getting in the way of writing, but I've some ideas brewing. :)

Definitely a lot more active there now. @DimirUB is the best account for breaking previews and mostly why I still check here, and to cross-post (engagement is also much higher there, despite having 1/4 the follower count there)
if this site goes down/becomes a hellscape, I'm here - bsky.app/profile/usmantherad…. I'll get more active there if so.

In case you missed it earlier, also this was the RG 3-0 deck from that draft.
My impressions of the first wave of cards from Aetherdrift/Aetherdrift Commander for #mtgcube . Had a cube draft with most of these cards seeded in and these were my initial thoughts! usmantherad.substack.com/p/a…

Now that we're a little deeper into spoiler season, I wanted to do a more detailed thread about how I, personally, feel that #MTGAetherdrift is a failure at a cool concept: A multiversal race where the prize is a Planeswalker spark. I'm going to break it down as best as I can. 🧵
Alright, it's time for me to grouse. #MTGAetherdrift is this year's crossover set. Why the heck isn't this just Depala, the existing Boros character (from Avishkar!) who cares about Vehicles? Why are almost all of the legends just new shmucks instead of characters we know?

I've ported my cube design article links to my Substack, partially so that I can add things to it (since it used to link to my old blog) and partially because the owner of WP had been having a meltdown ~3 months ago which... ain't great. usmantherad.substack.com/p/u…

Pondering doing a post-mortem on Duskmourn since it had a lot of solid cube cards that went under the radar, which got me thinking... what purpose does "cube set review" content do for you? (an objective listing of power? interactions with others/holistic things?) (x/1)

Philosophically, it's something on my mind for a while - the "red meat" usually feels like the "this is the powerful stuff" but it's not everything. But it's definitely a lot of the equation and sometimes the "non-powerful" stuff is hard to gauge, if that makes sense. (2/2)
