Woke up to this news. I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe this is reality. Immediately talked to a few friends in Korea and they aren’t concerned at all but rather annoyed by the inconvenience. Regardless, I hope everyone stays safe. Personal safety is the highest priority. KRW crashed immediately against USD when the news hit. This is expected. The irony is that crypto crashed as well bc logically crypto should be a great place to exit KRW and safeguard your wealth similar to USD. Instead, Koreans rushed to dump crypto causing local CEX websites to crash. Seems counterintuitive and the realization will come. Unlike fiat and precious metals, crypto is the safest (self-custody) and the most mobile (e.g. paper wallet) asset ever created. If I need to flee somewhere, crypto makes the most sense. This is a great time to buy and accumulate. As for $ICX, the project de-risked from Korea by exiting most operations a long time ago. Our main team members are in more than a dozen countries around the world. $ICX would be fully operational if Korea goes to war tomorrow. Yet the media continues to label $ICX as a Kimchi Coin which does not hold true anymore. $ICX has survived 7+ years. Think how people change so much in 7 years! Similarly, $ICX has evolved significantly over the years with commitment to decentralization and sustainable growth. De-risking from Korea was one of the early goals we managed to achieve. $ICX is not a Kimchi Coin. $ICX is global.
