I grabbed a $14 salad from a deli this afternoon. The cashier flipped the tablet around before I could pull out my card. Three buttons were already lit up: 20%. 25%. 30%.
For a salad I watched them pull out of a refrigerated case?
And the "No Tip" button was shrunk to a tiny gray link in the corner.
In 2005, you picked up your food, paid the price on the menu, and went home. Nobody stood over you waiting for your reaction.
